Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Engineer to support and coordinate LNG projects during FEED, PMC, and technical consultancy phases from our Kuala Lumpur (KL) office.

The role focuses on project management support, development of Project Execution Plans (PEP), preparation of project management documentation, coordination with clients and multidisciplinary engineering teams, and review of technical deliverables to ensure efficient project execution.

The successful candidate will have solid experience in LNG projects development, strong exposure to international engineering or consulting environments, and the ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams across global offices.

The candidate should also have good familiarity with local construction contract mechanisms and project execution practices commonly used in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, including:

  • Familiarity with FIDIC-based contracts and project administration
  • Knowledge of local contractor coordination, construction interface management, and engineering support during project execution
  • Awareness of local regulatory processes, approvals, and project development practices in Malaysia

Experience working with Malaysian contractors, regional engineering firms, and international EPC contractors involved in LNG or energy infrastructure projects will be considered an advantage.

The candidate should also be comfortable working within multi-national project environments, coordinating with engineering teams across multiple locations.

Project Engineering & Management Support

  • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of LNG import terminal projects, including FEED, PMC, and other technical advisory assignments.
  • Develop and maintain Project Execution Plans (PEP) and other key project management documents, including project schedules, execution strategies, and coordination plans.
  • Assist the Project Manager and Act as DPM in managing project scope, schedule, deliverables, and project interfaces.
  • Support project reporting activities including progress reports, technical status updates, and project performance tracking.

Engineering Coordination


  • Coordinate engineering activities across all disciplines including marine, process, mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation, and safety.
  • Ensure effective technical communication and interface management between engineering teams, consultants, contractors, and clients.
  • Review engineering deliverables to ensure technical quality, completeness, and compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
  • Support resolution of technical issues, design challenges, and interdisciplinary interfaces during project development.

Client Coordination


  • Coordinate with clients on technical discussions, project updates, and engineering deliverables.
  • Support project meetings, workshops, and technical review sessions with stakeholders.
  • Assist in addressing client queries and ensuring clear communication between project teams and clients.
  • Maintain strong professional relationships with clients and stakeholders during project execution.

Team Collaboration


  • Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams across different offices to ensure effective coordination and delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and project team members where required.
  • Promote a collaborative environment focused on technical excellence, accountability, and quality delivery.

Proposal & Business Support


  • Support preparation of technical proposals, methodology, and scope definitions for LNG and energy infrastructure consulting assignments.
  • Assist in developing engineering execution strategies and cost estimates during proposal development.
  • Contribute technical inputs for tenders, bids, and client presentations.

Qualifications


  • Experience: 8-12 years in project management of LNG projects FEED, PMC
  • Education: Master's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • International Experience: Prior work experience with global engineering or consulting firms is highly desirable.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead multi-cultural and cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Language: Fluent in English; local language proficiency will be an advantage.
  • Tools: Familiar with project management systems (MS Project, Primavera), Microsoft Project, Navisworks, Aconex, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint etc.
