Overview:

We are looking for IT professionals with a keen interest in Storage designing, implementing, managing, and maintaining an organization's data storage infrastructure with at least 2 to 3 years of experience in the related field. The primary goal is to ensure data integrity, availability, security, and performance.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Design and Implementation:

    • Design, architect, and implement robust and scalable storage solutions (SAN, NAS, Object Storage, DAS, cloud storage) to meet current and future business needs.

    • Configure and deploy storage hardware (e.g., Huawei, Dell EMC, Pure Storage, HP) and software.

    • Integrate new storage systems with existing IT infrastructure.

  • Management and Maintenance:

    • Monitor storage infrastructure performance, capacity, and availability to ensure optimal operation.

    • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including firmware updates, patch management, system health checks, and hardware replacements.

    • Execute provisioning tasks such as LUN creation and mapping.

    • Troubleshoot and resolve complex storage-related issues, working with vendors as needed.

  • Data Protection and Disaster Recovery:

    • Implement and manage data backup and recovery operations, ensuring data integrity and business continuity.

    • Develop and implement disaster recovery (DR) plans and strategies for storage systems, including data replication and mirroring.

    • Conduct regular DR testing.

  • Performance Optimization and Capacity Planning:

    • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of storage systems based on workload and application needs.

    • Perform regular capacity planning to anticipate future storage requirements and proactively address them.

  • Documentation and Compliance:

    • Develop and maintain detailed documentation of storage configurations, procedures, and architectural diagrams.

    • Ensure compliance with data storage policies, regulations, and security best practices (e.g., FISMA, STIG).

  • Automation and Scripting:

    • Develop and implement scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) to automate storage management tasks and enforce configuration standards.

  • Collaboration and Support:

    • Collaborate effectively with other IT teams (network, server, database, application teams) to ensure seamless integration and support.

    • Provide technical support and expertise to end-users and project teams for storage-related queries and problems.

    • Participate in on-call rotations for incident response outside of regular business hours.

  • Research and Evaluation:

    • Research and evaluate new storage technologies and trends to propose innovative solutions and improvements.

    • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging technologies.

Jobholder requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., NetApp Certified, EMC Proven Professional, CompTIA Storage+, AWS Certified Storage Specialty) are often highly valued.

Technical Skills:

  • Deep understanding of various storage technologies: SAN (Storage Area Network), NAS (Network-Attached Storage), Object Storage, DAS (Direct Attached Storage).

  • Proficiency in storage protocols: Fibre Channel (FC), iSCSI, NFS, CIFS/SMB, FCoE (Fibre Channel over Ethernet).

  • Hands-on experience with major storage vendor hardware and software: Examples include Huawei, Dell EMC, Pure Storage, HP.

  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies: VMware vSphere, Redhat Hypervisor, KVM.

  • Scripting proficiency: PowerShell, Python, Bash for automation.

  • Strong understanding of fundamental hardware concepts: disk, memory, CPU, NIC, HBA, firmware, RAID.

  • Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, routing protocols.

  • Operating system knowledge: Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu), Windows Server.

  • Monitoring tools: Nagios, Zabbix, ELK, or similar.

  • Troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

  • Preferred at least 2 to 3 years working experience in Storage team.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal).

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to data integrity.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
