Job Summary:

The Strategy, Investments & Data Analytics Intern will support the Strategy & Investments team under the Group Managing Director's office. This hybrid role bridges the gap between traditional corporate finance and modern data science. You will leverage data visualization (Power BI) and advanced AI tools (Claude) to drive corporate strategy, enhance investment analysis, and streamline business development initiatives.

This role is highly suited for a data-driven, analytical individual eager to gain hands-on exposure in a listed company environment while applying modern technological workflows to real-world corporate challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Analysis & AI Integration

• Data Visualization: Design, build, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards to visualize investment portfolio performance, track corporate KPIs, and monitor industry trends.

• AI-Driven Insights: Leverage large language models (Claude) to rapidly synthesize complex industry reports, extract qualitative data insights, and automate routine research workflows.

• Data Aggregation: Perform data gathering, cleaning, and structuring from disparate financial and operational sources to ensure accuracy for strategic modeling.

Corporate Strategy

• Market Intelligence: Support market research, industry analysis, and competitor benchmarking, utilizing data analytics to identify strategic gaps and opportunities.

• Executive Reporting: Prepare compelling presentation materials, reports, and management decks for internal discussions, translating complex data into actionable strategic narratives.

• Project Support: Support ad-hoc strategic initiatives, feasibility studies, restructuring exercises, and corporate planning activities.

Investment Analysis

• Financial Review: Assist in reviewing financial statements, management accounts, and evaluating new investment proposals.

• Due Diligence: Perform foundational due diligence work and financial analysis for strategic and investment-related projects (e.g., M&A evaluations).

• Modeling Support: Assist in building and maintaining financial models, integrating dynamic data feeds where applicable.

Requirements & Qualifications:

Academic Background

• Undergraduate student or recent graduate in Data Science, Business Analytics, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related fields.

• Candidates pursuing professional qualifications (e.g., ICAEW, ACCA, CPA, CFA) with a strong interest in technology and data are highly encouraged to apply.

Skills & Competencies

• Data & AI Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Power BI (data modeling, DAX, dashboard creation) and practical experience prompting AI tools (like Claude or ChatGPT) for data synthesis and research.

• Financial & Software Acumen: Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (financial formulas, data manipulation) and Microsoft PowerPoint.

• Analytical Rigor: Exceptional ability to structure complex information clearly, work with numbers accurately, and draw logical conclusions from large datasets.

• Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia, with the ability to explain technical data findings to non-technical stakeholders.
