We are hiring an Assistant Finance Manager to take ownership of day-to-day finance operations across the group, reporting directly to the Group CEO and working closely with an external CFO-level advisor for periodic review and guidance.
Role Overview
The Assistant Finance Manager is responsible for end-to-end finance operations, including accounting, cash flow management, statutory compliance, and reporting across multiple companies.
This is a hands-on role. You are expected to operate independently, apply sound accounting judgment, and ensure finance operations run smoothly without constant supervision.
While CFO-level advisory support is available for review and strategic guidance, this role owns execution and day-to-day financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Operations & Accounting
- Manage full sets of accounts (AP, AR, GL, billings, collections) across multiple entities using Xero.
- Oversee invoicing, quotations, monthly retainers, and revenue tracking, including deferred revenue where applicable.
- Lead month-end closing, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely reporting.
- Prepare monthly management reports, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow summaries.
- Perform bank reconciliations and ensure financial records are always up to date.
- Cash Flow & Payment Management
- Monitor cash flow positions, prepare payment schedules, and manage supplier payments.
- Track receivables, follow up on overdue invoices, and highlight cash-flow risks early.
- Maintain basic cash-flow forecasts and support budgeting discussions.
Statutory, Tax & Compliance
- Ensure timely submission and payment of all statutory obligations, including EPF, SOCSO, EIS, HRDF, SST, withholding tax, and other applicable taxes.
- Handle SST, digital tax, and withholding tax treatments for local and cross-border transactions.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax agents, and company secretaries
- Ensure audit readiness and proper documentation at all times.
- Process, Controls & SOP Ownership
- Maintain and continuously improve finance SOPs and internal controls.
- Ensure proper documentation, approval workflows, and compliance tracking.
- Identify gaps, risks, or inefficiencies and propose practical improvements.
Cross-Team Coordination
- Act as the primary finance point of contact for operational teams.
- Coordinate with management and external advisors to ensure financial accuracy and alignment.
- Support finance-related administrative and documentation requirements where needed.
Who We're Looking For
Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 4–6 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance operations (SME or multi-entity environment preferred).
- Proven experience handling full sets of accounts independently.
- Strong working knowledge of Xero or similar cloud accounting systems.
- Solid understanding of Malaysia statutory requirements, SST, and basic tax treatments.
- Comfortable managing multiple companies and deadlines.
