Job Description
Nova Medtech is a Malaysian medical technology company built by people who came out of pharmaceuticals. We distribute laser systems and oncology diagnostics across renowned hospital groups and independent private hospital networks. Small team. Real accounts. Decisions made the same week they're raised.
We're hiring one person to own a Klang Valley territory end to end - find the surgeon, win the surgeon, then stand beside them in theatre and make sure the case goes well.
What the job actually is
Two halves. They feed each other.
The commercial half
- Own a defined territory: prospect, open new surgeons, grow procedure volume with existing ones
- Carry a quarterly number on device placements and consumable pull-through
- Run your own pipeline - clinic visits, HOD meetings, workshop invites, follow-ups.
- Negotiate at hospital procurement and materials management level
- Coordinate stock, delivery notes and reorders so a surgeon never opens an empty shelf
The clinical half
- Set up, calibrate and troubleshoot our laser platform in theatre, scrubbed or circulating
- Proctor cases and train surgeons, scrub nurses and OT staff - until they can run it without you in the room
- Run hands-on workshops and wet labs
- Feed real case observations back to us. What the surgeon wanted and didn't get is our product roadmap.
Here's the honest version: the clinical work is what earns you the right to sell. A surgeon who trusts you in theatre at 7am takes your call about the next case. That's the whole model. If you're a rep who wants to drop a brochure and leave, you'll hate this. If you're a clinical specialist who thinks selling is beneath you, same.
Who fits
Must have:
- Time inside an operating theatre - OT nurse, biomedical engineer, clinical applications specialist, or device rep who genuinely covered cases. You know what the sterile field is and you've never broken it.
- A track record of carrying a target, or a clear, credible reason you're ready to
- The ability to talk to a consultant surgeon without sounding like a brochure - and to a procurement officer without sounding like a nurse
- Diploma or degree in nursing, biomedical engineering, health sciences or equivalent field experience
- Own transport and a valid licence. Klang Valley base, occasional outstation.
- English plus Bahasa Malaysia. Mandarin is a real advantage in several of our accounts.
Bonus, not required:
- Energy-based device experience (laser, RF, ultrasonic, electrosurgery)
- Existing relationships with colorectal or general surgery teams
- Exposure to MDA registration or hospital credentialing paperwork
- We will train the product. We cannot train composure at 7am when a scope isn't reading and there's a patient on the table - or the nerve to ask for the order afterwards.
