Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Syariah Lawyer role located in Kampar. The Syariah Lawyer will handle Syariah-related cases, including client consultations, case assessment, and preparation of legal opinions and documentation. Daily responsibilities include drafting and reviewing pleadings, contracts, and other legal documents in line with Syariah principles, as well as representing clients in Syariah courts and relevant tribunals. The role involves conducting legal research on statutes, case law, and scholarly writings, and keeping up to date with developments in Syariah and related regulations. The Syariah Lawyer will also collaborate with colleagues on case strategies, maintain accurate case files, and ensure professional and ethical conduct in all client interactions.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Syariah law, including family, inheritance, and commercial matters, with the ability to apply legal principles to practical cases.
- Experience in legal drafting and documentation, including pleadings, contracts, opinions, and court submissions.
- Proficiency in legal research and analysis, with the ability to interpret statutes, case law, and Syariah sources.
- Effective client communication and advocacy skills, including the ability to present arguments clearly in Syariah court and advise clients in understandable terms.
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) with relevant Syariah law qualifications or certifications; admission to practice in Syariah courts is an advantage.
- Strong ethical standards, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment and willingness to mentor and support junior staff.
- Proficiency in relevant languages used in Syariah practice (such as Malay and Arabic) is preferred; additional language skills are an advantage.
