IT SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR Full-Time | On-Site | IT Infrastructure
ROLE OVERVIEW We invite a highly skilled and motivated IT System Administrator to join our team and take ownership of our technology backbone. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. System Management • Installation & Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (Windows, Linux) and server environments across physical and virtual platforms. • Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor system performance to maintain high levels of availability and reliability. • Backup & Recovery: Implement and manage backup solutions with regular testing to ensure data integrity and recoverability. • System Updates: Apply OS patches, upgrades, and administrative tool updates on a regular and timely basis.
2. Application Management • Performance Monitoring: Monitor application performance, identify bottlenecks, and resolve issues to maintain optimal system health. • Security Management: Implement application security controls and ensure compliance with security policies and industry best practices. • Incident Response: Respond to and resolve application security incidents and breaches promptly and effectively.
3. User Support • Technical Assistance: Deliver technical support and troubleshooting assistance to developers and end-users for application and software-related issues. • Account Management: Manage user accounts, repository permissions, and access controls to ensure secure and efficient operations. • Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and user guides for IT infrastructure systems and procedures.
4. Security & Compliance • Policy Implementation: Develop, implement, and enforce IT security policies and procedures across systems. • Compliance: Ensure all systems comply with applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal company policies. • Security Audits: Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and risk analyses to proactively identify and mitigate potential threats.
5. Project Management • Project Planning: Lead and actively participate in IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and new technology implementations. • Vendor Management: Coordinate with vendors and service providers for procurement, support contracts, and service level agreements. • Technology Evaluation: Evaluate emerging technologies and solutions to continuously improve IT infrastructure and operational efficiency. • Cloud Deployment: Plan, execute, and manage cloud deployment initiatives, including migration of on-premises workloads to cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, or Huawei Cloud). • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional departments to understand their IT requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
6. Maintenance & Troubleshooting • Routine Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance on IT systems, including updates, patches, and performance optimisations. • Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues through root cause analysis and implement effective, lasting fixes. • System Optimisation: Develop and implement strategies to optimise system performance and operational efficiency. • Asset Management: Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all IT assets, including hardware, software, and licences.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. • Professional certifications are highly desirable (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, Red Hat Certified System Administrator).
Experience • Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in system administration, network management, or a comparable role.
Technical Skills • Operating Systems: Proficiency in Linux; working knowledge of Windows Server environments. • Virtualisation: Hands-on experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or equivalent virtualisation platforms. • Networking: Solid understanding of network protocols and services including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP. • Security: Practical experience with network security tools, practices, and frameworks. • Cloud Services: Hands-on experience deploying and managing workloads on AWS, Azure, GCP, or Huawei Cloud (HWC); proficiency in cloud infrastructure provisioning, IaaS/PaaS services, and SaaS application management. • Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in PowerShell, Python, or Bash for scripting and task automation; hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
Soft Skills • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a systematic, solution-focused approach. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. • High attention to detail with strong organisational and time management skills. • Genuine passion for technology and a commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with industry trends.
WORKING CONDITIONS • Predominantly office-based working environment. • Availability required outside standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, for scheduled maintenance, system upgrades, or emergency support. • Occasional travel to company sites or data centres for installations, maintenance activities, or on-site support. • Regular collaboration with internal teams, external vendors, and third-party service providers.
