System Business Analyst

Job Overview

The System Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing business processes, translating

requirements into system solutions, and supporting enhancements across AS/400,

mainframe, and insurance applications. This role ensures technology solutions meet

business objectives, regulatory standards, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Business & System Analysis

Gather, analyze, and document business requirements and functional specifications.

Perform impact analysis, propose system/process improvements, and ensure

alignment with business goals.

Translate requirements into technical design inputs for development teams.

Solution Design & Implementation

Review system designs and validate feasibility based on AS/400, mainframe, and

integrated applications.

Coordinate with IT teams on development, testing, and deployment activities.

Support vendor engagement on technical matters.

Testing & Quality Assurance

Participate in SIT and support UAT by clarifying requirements and verifying system

outputs.

Ensure changes comply with quality, audit, and regulatory standards.

Document test cases, results, and defect resolutions.

Production Support

Troubleshoot and resolve production issues including batch failures, ABENDs, and

system errors.

Support daily operations, monitoring, and system continuity.

Provide root cause analysis and recommendations to prevent recurrence.

Stakeholder & Project Coordination

Manage communication with business users, IT teams, and project stakeholders.

Track deliverables, timelines, and system impacts for enhancements and new

product launches.

Prepare and maintain documentation across requirements, design, testing, and

releases.

Skills & Competencies

Technical

AS/400 / iSeries, RPG

Mainframe: COBOL, JCL, DB2/SQL, CICS

Tools: FILE-AID, CHANGEMAN, Endevor, SPUFI, Xpediter, SYNCSORT

SQL, Teradata, IBM utilities, MQ Series

Domain

Insurance (6+ years), Billing, Banking, Utilities

Strong understanding of core insurance processes and Polisy400

Professional

Requirement gathering, system analysis, documentation

Testing (Unit, SIT, UAT) & QA

Production support & troubleshooting

Stakeholder management and team coordination

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.

10+ years combined experience in systems analysis, development, and IT support.

Strong experience with AS/400 and mainframe environments.

Familiarity with Agile is an advantage.
