Job Overview:
The Regional Tax Manager – ASPAC will be responsible for managing and coordinating all tax-related activities across the region covering Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Papua New Guinea, South Korea and Thailand.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Tax Compliance and Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation and filing of all federal, state, and local tax returns.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations in all jurisdictions within the region.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and implement necessary changes to ensure compliance.
2. Tax Planning and Strategy:
- Work closely with Group tax director, CFO and regional financial director to develop and implement tax strategies that optimize the company's tax position.
- Identify and mitigate tax risks by conducting thorough analyses of business operations.
- Provide guidance on the tax implications of various business decisions.
3. Audit and Examination:
- Manage tax audits and examinations conducted by tax authorities.
- Prepare documentation and provide support during audits.
- Negotiate settlements and resolve disputes with tax authorities.
4. Internal Collaboration:
- Work closely with the finance and accounting teams.
- Provide training and support to staff on tax-related matters.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure tax considerations are integrated into business planning and operations.
5. External Relationships:
- Maintain relationships with external tax advisors and consultants.
- Liaise with government tax authorities and represent the company in tax-related matters.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or advanced degree in Taxation.
- Minimum of 5 -8 years of experience in tax management, preferably within a multinational company.
- Strong knowledge of regional local tax laws and regulations.
- Experience in managing tax audits and negotiations with tax authorities.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
