Position Description

Vantage is seeking a detail-oriented, initiative-driven, quick-learning Tax Manager to provide expert tax support in Malaysia.

This role will play a critical part in business partnering, advising on tax implications, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, with a strong focus on embedding tax considerations into day-to-day business and finance processes and owning tax outcomes in Malaysia.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is capable of driving results, takes ownership, and brings a practical, solutions-oriented mindset to managing tax risks in a dynamic environment.

Duties:

Tax planning and business partnering

• Lead and support implementation of Malaysia specific tax strategies and manage tax risks effectively.
• Partner closely with key local stakeholders (e.g. Accounting and Commercial teams) to ensure accurate tax treatment and compliance in operational processes.
• Coordinate with local stakeholders to align on business plans and implement practical tax solutions.
• Provide training and regular tax updates (e.g. SST developments) to finance and non-finance BU teams, and support implementation.
• Play a pivotal role in the post-acquisition integration in M&A projects.

Tax advisory support

• Provide day-to-day tax advisory support to business units and act as the key tax contact for Malaysia operations.
• Own end-to-end tax outcomes in Malaysia, ensuring tax considerations are appropriately embedded in business processes.
• Monitor developments in Malaysian tax regulations and assess impact on business operations.
• Identify tax risks and work with stakeholders to implement appropriate tax solutions.

Tax compliance and governance support

• Lead and manage tax compliance workstreams for direct, indirect, including transfer pricing related matters.
• Build and maintain SOPs, controls and governance frameworks for tax processes in Malaysia.
• Manage tax audit defence strategies to ensure compliance with current legislations and mitigate tax risks.
• Leverage tools and AI-enabled solutions to enhance tax processes, including improving efficiency in data analysis, documentation, and compliance workflow.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in tax advisory/ compliance in a Big 4 firm.
• Strong working knowledge dealing with Malaysia SST and indirect tax fillings (highly preferred).
• Experience handling tax audits and tax authority engagement.
• Familiarity with real estate, infrastructure or data center industry is a plus.
• Hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a lean team.
• Proactive, solution-driven mindset.
• Professional qualification in accountancy and/or tax.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint, with familiarity in leveraging digital tools such as Copilot and AI-enabled solutions to improve productivity and efficiency.
• The role will be based in Cyberjaya, Kuala Lumpur.
