Responsibilities:

The Tax Manager (SEA) is responsible for prepare and manage all tax-related matters across SEA region, ensuring regulatory compliance, accurate reporting, and transfer pricing adherence. This role supports business by managing tax risks, optimizing tax positions, partnering with business teams and liaising with regulatory authorities.

Tax Governance & Compliance

  • Prepare and manage corporate tax, withholding tax, indirect tax, stamp duties and other tax compliance applicable in the region
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax filings in accordance with local regulations and Group requirements
  • Establish and maintain strong tax governance, internal controls and documentation standards
  • Manage compliance with imported service tax, GST, SST, VAT and other indirect tax obligations
  • Support customs duties management including import duty/sales tax exemptions and related certificates

Transfer Pricing (TP)

  • Coordinate and maintain TP documentation & assessments in line with regulatory/Group requirements
  • Monitor intercompany transactions and ensure alignment with TP policies, regulatory standards and Group requirements/policies
  • Compute intercompany TP adjustments and support TP audits and enquiries from tax authorities

Tax Planning & Business Partnering

  • Identify and implement tax planning and optimization opportunities
  • Monitor changes in tax regulations and assess business impact, including new regulatory requirements
  • Partner with Finance (local and Group) and business teams on tax implications of commercial/supply chain transactions and business decisions

Government & Regulatory Affairs

  • Act as the primary liaison with tax and relevant regulatory authorities (eg. MIDA, MITI, customs)
  • Manage tax audits, queries, clarifications and communications with government agencies
  • Prepare and manage applications for tax/duties rulings, incentives, exemptions or clarifications where applicable
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and external advisors on government-facing tax matters
  • Support customs approvals and other regulatory filings such as Custom Scrap Approval

Reporting & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage tax accounting, reporting, tax provisions and disclosures
  • Prepare and ensure accurate Group reporting requirements eg. ETR (Effective tax rate), GMT (Group management tax) and SFRM submissions on timely basis
  • Prepare tax budget, forecasting and tax estimate on timely basis

Ad hoc projects and initiatives

  • Participate, provide tax advisory and support ad hoc projects, transformation initiatives and M&A activities, as required

To be successful in this role, it is recommended that you should have the following skills and qualifications:

Functional knowledge/Technical skill/:

  • Solid technical knowledge of corporate tax, indirect tax and transfer pricing
  • Good understanding of tax governance, compliance and risk management.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to partner with the business on tax implications
  • Capable of managing external tax advisors, regulatory queries, and ongoing compliance requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a growing and evolving organization.
  • Good understanding of end-to-end finance operations and how tax impacts business processes

Professional/Technical Qualifications & License:

ACCA / CIMA / CPA / ICAEW or equivalent professional qualification preferred

Work Experience:

  • Good understanding of end-to-end finance operations and how tax impacts business processes
  • Exposure to regional tax compliance, TP, indirect tax and government interactions

Willing to relocate to the job location.
