Job Purpose
The Business Operations, Team Lead supports Group Corporate Banking by overseeing day-to-day operational governance, and strategic initiatives. The role ensures operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, management reporting, and alignment with Affin Group's corporate banking strategy while acting as a bridge between business, risk, finance, and support units.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Operations
- Oversee operational frameworks, policies, and procedures for Group Corporate Banking to ensure consistency and compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and monitor operating controls, escalation processes, and governance forums.
- Strategic & Performance Management
- Support the formulation, execution, and tracking of corporate banking strategic plans and business initiatives.
- Develop and monitor KPIs, dashboards, and MIS reports for management and senior leadership review.
- Perform business performance analysis, identifying trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Financial & Portfolio Management Support
- Support budget planning, cost tracking, and expense optimization initiatives for Group Corporate Banking.
- Assist in portfolio performance reviews covering revenue, asset quality, utilization, and risk-adjusted returns.
- Coordinate submissions related to business planning, financial forecasts, and management scorecards.
- Stakeholder & Project Management
- Act as a central coordination point between Relationship Managers, Product, Credit, Risk, Operations, and Technology teams.
- Lead and support business projects including process improvement, system enhancements, and regulatory-driven initiatives.
- Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of business operations.
- Allocate work, review deliverables, and ensure timely and quality output.
- Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Banking, Economics, or a related field
- Professional qualifications (e.g. CFA, ACCA, MBA) are an advantage
Experience
- Minimum 6–8 years of experience in corporate banking, business management, or banking operations
- At least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role
- Strong exposure to corporate banking products, credit processes, or business performance management
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills
- Solid understanding of corporate banking operations and governance
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Strong presentation and report-writing capabilities
- Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and management reporting tools
