Job Description: Team Lead, Core Banking Technology (COBOL)

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced technical leader to guide our Core Banking technology team. In this role, you will be the go-to expert for our COBOL-based equity post-trade systems. You will combine hands-on coding with team leadership, ensuring high-quality delivery, mentoring developers, and maintaining the stability of our critical platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership & Mentoring:Provide hands-on technical guidance in COBOL, JCL, and batch processing. Mentor and coach team members, fostering their growth and ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Software Development Lifecycle:Lead the end-to-end delivery of features, bug fixes, and security patchesfrom design and coding to deployment and maintenance. Conduct code reviews to uphold quality and security standards.
- Stakeholder & Project Management:Collaborate with business and project stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables, ensuring alignment and successful outcomes.
- Production Support:Act as the primary point of contact for investigating and resolving production issues, ensuring system stability and minimal downtime.
- Process & Technology Improvement:Assist in evaluating new technologies and contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and methodologies.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of hands-on programming experience.
- Deep expertise inCOBOL,Red Hat Linux,SQL, andDB2.
- Proven experience in a technical leadership or senior mentoring capacity.
- Strong knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Preferred:
- Experience with reporting tools like Jasper Reports or SAP Business Object (Crystal Reports).
- Experience with job schedulers, preferably IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler (TWS).
- Knowledge of the Securities or Derivatives Market is a strong advantage.
