Job Title: Team Lead Geology

Duration: Up to 2 years, renewable

Location: Kuala Lumpur, MY

This opportunity supports regional petroleum exploration, prospect evaluation and reserve assessment within the oil and gas sector. The role is focused on geological analysis, basin modelling and exploration strategy, with a strong emphasis on technical leadership and decision support. This position offers the chance to contribute to new exploration opportunities while guiding multidisciplinary work and supporting business-critical evaluations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the evaluation of hydrocarbon potential in new exploration areas and provide technical recommendations on prospect evaluation, reserve assessment and associated risks and uncertainties.
• Conduct and guide regional studies and basin modelling to identify potential areas for concession or PSC acquisition and support the development of opportunity databases.
• Perform prospect identification, evaluation and ranking to support exploration strategy and investment decisions.
• Lead the evaluation and monitoring of exploration project activities to help protect and optimise company interests.
• Supervise geological well data acquisition during drilling operations.
• Generate new exploration concepts, formulate exploration programmes and identify target markets or assets for exploration and development strategy.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to management and colleagues on geology and exploration matters.
• Assist with planning and monitoring departmental work plans and budgets while maintaining effective procedures and methodologies.
• Support capability development and promote the use of up-to-date exploration geology technology.
• Coach, motivate and develop junior staff, including sharing technical knowledge and delivering training on geological concepts.
• Support high-quality team discussion and decision-making.
• Promote SSHE policy and regulatory compliance across work under this position's responsibility.
  
  

Required Education & Certifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics or a related field (Required)
  
  

Required Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in geology and exploration

• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• High level of interpersonal skills and integrity
• Proficiency in G&G software and systems
• Stakeholder management skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external parties

• Master's degree in Geology, Geophysics or a related field (Preferred)
