Job Description

Job Purpose

To lead and coordinate housekeeping attendants in maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation standards of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas. The Housekeeping Team Leader ensures efficient daily operations, excellent guest satisfaction, and compliance with hotel policies and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Duties

  • Assign daily cleaning tasks and room allocations to housekeeping attendants.
  • Monitor the cleanliness and maintenance of guest rooms, corridors, pantries, and public areas.
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure hotel standards are consistently met.
  • Ensure all rooms are cleaned and prepared according to established standards before guest arrival.
  • Coordinate with Front Office regarding room status updates and priority rooms.
  • Report maintenance issues and follow up with Engineering for prompt resolution.
  • Ensure adequate stock levels of linen, guest supplies, and cleaning materials.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, motivate, and support housekeeping attendants during daily operations.
  • Provide on-the-job training to new and existing team members.
  • Monitor staff attendance, grooming, discipline, and performance.
  • Assist supervisors in conducting performance evaluations.
  • Promote teamwork and effective communication within the department.

Quality & Service Excellence

  • Handle guest requests and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through timely and quality housekeeping services.
  • Follow up on special guest requirements and VIP room preparations.
  • Maintain service standards in accordance with hotel policies and brand requirements.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with hotel safety procedures and hygiene standards.
  • Promote proper use and handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify safety hazards.
  • Ensure lost-and-found procedures are followed accurately.
  • Participate in emergency response procedures and hotel safety programs.

Administrative Duties

  • Complete daily checklists, inspection records, and housekeeping reports.
  • Update room status information accurately and timely.
  • Monitor inventory usage and report shortages or discrepancies.
  • Assist in month-end stock counts and inventory control activities.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Minimum SPM or equivalent.
  • Certification in Housekeeping or Hospitality Management is an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 2-3 years of housekeeping experience in a hotel environment.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping procedures, cleaning methods, and chemical handling.
  • Basic computer literacy and familiarity with hotel property management systems is an advantage.
