About ITDS GLEM

The International Training & Development Services department (ITDS) - Global Learning Event Management (GLEM) is part of DHL Group's Corporate Center HR. We deliver high-quality learning experiences through seamless coordination of training events, both virtual and in-person. Our services include training administration, virtual production, on-site hospitality, large-scale global events, and the management of dedicated learning centers. The GLEM team operates globally with hubs in Maastricht, Kuala Lumpur, and Germany, and is responsible for the flagship DHL Learning Center in Bonn.

Your Role: Team Manager Event Management

As Team Manager Event Management, you will lead a globally distributed group of professionals responsible for the end-to-end delivery of learning events across DHL Group. You will oversee operations, drive continuous improvement, and ensure strategic alignment with business needs. This role includes full responsibility for the operational management of the DHL Learning Center in Bonn, ensuring it delivers premium learning experiences and meets ESG and financial reporting standards.

This position is part of the ITDS Management Team, contributing to strategic decision-making and shaping the future of learning and development services across DHL Group.

You will play a pivotal role in implementing the ITDS Strategy 2030, with a focus on enhancing operational efficiency, increasing stakeholder engagement, leveraging technology, and upskilling the team.

The position can be based in Maastricht (NL) or Kuala Lumpur (MY). Given the strategic importance of our stakeholder base in Bonn and our ambition to diversify our customer portfolio, you will also be expected to travel occasionally to meet stakeholders in Bonn and across regions, strengthening collaboration and ensuring alignment on strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Design and implement the ITDS Strategy 2030 for Event Management.

  • Lead a global team across multiple time zones, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Oversee the DHL Learning Center in Bonn, including resource planning, marketing, budgeting, and service quality.

Service Delivery & Expansion

  • Ensure delivery of services including training administration, virtual production, hospitality, and large-scale events.

  • Expand and evolve the Event Management service portfolio to meet current and future business needs.

  • Drive the diversification of the Event Management customer base, proactively identifying and engaging new internal clients to ensure sustainable growth.

  • Develop and execute pricing mechanisms for Event Management products and services.

People Management< /p>

  • Lead a team of over 10 professionals across multiple locations.

  • Manage recruitment, development, performance, and workload allocation.

  • Lead and inspire a diverse, global team through periods of change, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrate strong intercultural competence and the ability to work effectively across regions and cultures.

Learning Center Oversight

  • Manage the operations of the DHL Learning Center in Bonn, ensuring high-quality experiences for internal and external participants.

  • Coordinate accommodation, logistics, and data management for ESG and financial reporting.

Performance & Process Management

  • Monitor service delivery against SLAs, KPIs, and budgets implement corrective actions as needed.

  • Champion the adoption of digital tools, data analytics, and process automation to optimize event management and enhance service quality.

  • Source, test, and implement new tools and processes to enhance efficiency and service quality.

  • Continuously benchmark against external providers and introduce innovative solutions to maintain ITDS's competitive edge.

Supplier & Financial Handling

  • Liaise with external vendors and ensure compliance with contracts and service standards.

  • Track and process invoices accurately and maintain financial records.

  • Support Controlling in resolving supplier and customer-related queries.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including SVPs, EVPs, and DHL Board Members.

  • Collaborate with the Business Development & Solutions team to design and implement strategies for expanding our service portfolio.

  • Collaborate with external service providers and internal departments such as Procurement, Controlling, and Certified.

  • Represent ITDS GLEM in global, cross-divisional learning and communication initiatives.

Qualifications

Your Profile

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required Master's degree or advanced certification in Hospitality or Event Management highly desirable.

  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in a global, multicultural organization, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role with direct responsibility for large-scale event management and business development.

  • Proven track record of leading complex, high-impact projects and delivering measurable improvements in service quality, customer diversification, and financial performance.

Key qualifications and competencies

  • Demonstrated success in driving strategic transformation and innovation in event management or related fields.

  • Advanced stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging C-level executives and board members.

  • Deep expertise in digital event management solutions, data analytics, and process automation.

  • Strong change leadership and intercultural competence, with a history of building and developing high-performing, diverse teams across multiple regions.

  • Fluent in English (C1) proficiency in German (B2) and additional languages is a strong advantage.
