Job Summary
The LV Chargeman is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of low-voltage (LV) electrical systems within Telecommunication Operating Centres (TOCs). This role operates on a rotating shift schedule and is critical in ensuring uninterrupted power supply and system reliability while maintaining strict safety and regulatory compliance.
The Day-To-Day Activities
Electrical Maintenance
- Perform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance of LV equipment, including switchboards, circuit breakers, lighting, PDUs, and UPS systems
- Conduct shift-start and shift-end checks to ensure all systems are functioning optimally
Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Diagnose and resolve electrical faults promptly to minimise downtime
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and restore power/services efficiently in coordination with the team
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance to improve system reliability and performance
- Track and follow up on corrective actions to ensure issues are fully resolved
Documentation & Handover
- Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities, system status, and incidents
- Provide clear handover updates to ensure continuity between shifts
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout practices
- Ensure compliance with local electrical regulations and conduct regular safety checks
About You
Qualifications & Certification
- Must possess a valid Chargeman certification (minimum AO grade) issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission of Malaysia)
- Registered as a chargeman/ competent person
Experience
- Open to fresh graduates with relevant certification
- Candidates with experience in electrical maintenance or critical facilities will have an added advantage
Technical Skills
- Basic knowledge of LV electrical systems, UPS, rectifier systems, and power distribution units
- Familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and email communication
Soft Skills
- Able to communicate in English and Bahasa Malaysia
- Fast learner with strong willingness to learn and adapt
- Responsible and able to work independently in a shift environment
Work Requirements
- Willing to work on a 24/7 rotating shift (12-hour shift, 3 rotations)
- Based in Kepong (Central region) with ability to travel if required
