Job Description

Job Summary

The Test Manager is responsible for defining and governing the end-to-end test strategy for banking systems and programmes. The role ensures quality, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation across core banking, payments, cards, digital banking, and integration platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Test Strategy & Governance

  • Define, own, and continuously improve the enterprise test strategy, standards, and framework.
  • Establish testing governance aligned with bank IT policies, SDLC, and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement risk-based testing to protect critical banking functions.

Test Delivery Management

  • Plan and manage end-to-end testing activities across multiple projects and releases.
  • Oversee SIT, UAT support, regression, integration, and production validation.
  • Manage testing schedules, budgets, resources, and dependencies.

Banking & Regulatory Coverage

  • Govern testing for:
  • Core banking systems
  • Cards & payments (ATM, POS, online channels)
  • Digital banking platforms
  • Regulatory, audit, and compliance-driven initiatives
  • Ensure data accuracy, transaction integrity, and security compliance.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Act as the primary quality contact for business stakeholders, IT teams, vendors, auditors, and regulators.
  • Manage testing vendors, outsourced teams, and SLAs.
  • Provide clear quality status, risk assessments, and go / no-go recommendations to senior management.

Automation & Quality Improvement

  • Define and drive test automation strategy and tool adoption.
  • Improve testing efficiency through process optimisation and shift-left practices.
  • Track and report quality metrics, defect leakage, and test effectiveness.

Required Skills & Knowledge

Technical & Domain Skills

  • Strong expertise in SDLC / STLC
  • Extensive experience in banking systems and processes
  • Test management tools (ALM, JIRA, Zephyr, TestRail)
  • SQL for data validation
  • API and integration testing knowledge

Nice to Have

  • Performance testing (JMeter, LoadRunner)
  • Security testing awareness
  • Experience in Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery models
  • Knowledge of core banking and payment platforms

Certifications (Highly Preferred)

  • ISTQB Advanced Test Manager
  • PMP or PRINCE2 (advantage)
  • Agile testing certifications
