Thermal Validation Engineer
THE ROLE:
We are seeking a handson Thermal Validation Engineer to support CPU thermal qualification and validation efforts. The role focuses on designing and executing thermal test plans, running thermal characterization on platforms and reference designs, analyzing data, and automating test and data workflows. The ideal candidate has direct CPU thermal validation experience, strong scripting skills (Python), and familiarity with OS command line and scripting on both Windows and Linux.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and execute CPU thermal validation tests across development and qualification stages (component, platform, system-level).
- Develop, maintain and execute thermal test procedures (steady-state, transient, power cycling, throttling, stress tests).
- Instrument and configure test systems: thermocouples, thermal chambers, DAQs, power supplies, fans, and airflow measurement equipment.
- Integrate and automate thermal test flows using Python and OS scripting to control test hardware and software, collect data, and trigger test sequences.
- Create and maintain scripts for test setup, logging, parsing, plotting, and report generation.
- Use OS command line (Windows CMD/PowerShell and Linux shell) to deploy workloads, control processes, and automate test orchestration.
- Characterize CPU power, temperature, frequency and thermal throttling behavior; correlate sensor readings to external measurement.
- Analyze thermal data, identify root causes of thermal issues, and propose cooling or firmware/hardware mitigations.
- Work closely with firmware, hardware, mechanical design, and validation teams to close thermal issues and ensure product compliance with thermal requirements.
- Produce clear test reports, validation summaries, and traceable test evidence for design reviews and product qualification.
- Maintain test infrastructure, scripting libraries, and test benches; drive improvements in test efficiency and repeatability.
- Ensure safety and compliance in thermal testing environments.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with test automation frameworks and continuous test platforms.
- Familiarity with CPU power management features, DVFS, C-states/P-states, turbo/boost and thermal throttling algorithms.
- Experience with embedded firmware interfaces, sensor telemetry, and platform sensor architecture.
- Experience with version control systems (git) and agile development practices.
- Master's degree in Thermal/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Engineering degree in Thermal/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
