The Opportunity

Are you passionate about design engineering and eager to gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment Apply for our Tool Design / CAD Internship and gain practical exposureto real-world tooling design and regulated documentation practices.

About the Role

As a Tool Design / CAD Intern, you will support the Tool Design Team in the design, documentation, and improvement of jigs, fixtures, and manufacturing aids under supervision. This internship will provide valuable experience in engineering design standards and structured problem-solving within a professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating and updating 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings
  • Support Engineers and Designers in preparing documentation in line with AS/ISO standards
  • Make minor drawing updates and revisions under guidance
  • Organise CAD files and maintain documentation within controlled systems
  • Support simple design modifications based on engineering or production feedback
  • Participate in design reviews and learn structured problem-solving approaches
  • Assist in documenting process improvements and tooling changes

What You Will Learn

  • Application of drawing standards (AS/ISO, basic GD&T)
  • Exposure to regulated manufacturing documentation practices
  • Design for manufacturability principles
  • Controlled document management processes
  • Professional communication within engineering environments

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, or related Engineering/Design field
  • Exposure to 3D CAD software
  • Basic understanding of engineering drawing fundamentals
  • Strong willingness to learn and take constructive feedback

Nice to Have (Not Mandatory)

  • Project experience using 3D CAD
  • Exposure to manufacturing or production environments
  • Basic understanding of GD&T concepts
  • Experience producing technical drawings for university projects
