About The Role

The Senior Manager in the Transformation Office serves as a critical enabler and driver of AIA Malaysia's enterprise-wide transformation agenda. This role demands a rare combination of strategic thinking, project management discipline, and the courage to challenge the status quo — all while navigating complex organisational landscapes and influencing stakeholders across all levels.

The incumbent will be accountable for leading high-impact transformation initiatives from inception to delivery, ensuring alignment with AIA Malaysia's strategic priorities and long-term business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Management & Delivery

  • Lead and manage multiple complexes, cross-functional transformation projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and on-scope delivery.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, governance frameworks, risk registers, and milestone tracking dashboards.
  • Apply structured project management methodologies (PMO standards, Agile, or hybrid approaches) appropriate to the nature of each initiative.
  • Drive accountability across workstream leads and ensure rigorous progress reporting to senior leadership.

2. Problem Solving & Strategic Analysis

  • Diagnose complex, ambiguous business problems using structured problem-solving frameworks (e.g., issue trees, root cause analysis, scenario modelling).
  • Translate strategic intent into actionable transformation roadmaps with clear milestones, KPIs, and success metrics.
  • Synthesise large volumes of data and qualitative insights to generate crisp, compelling recommendations for C-suite and Board-level audiences.
  • Anticipate downstream implications of decisions and proactively surface risks and interdependencies.

3. Organisational Navigation & Stakeholder Management

  • Navigate complex internal organisational dynamics, building coalitions of support across business units, functions, and geographies.
  • Establish and maintain trusted relationships with senior leaders, subject matter experts, and external partners.
  • Develop and execute stakeholder engagement plans that drive alignment, buy-in, and commitment to transformation goals.
  • Act as a bridge between strategy and execution — translating leadership vision into operational reality.

4. Negotiation & Influencing

  • Lead negotiations with internal and external stakeholders to resolve conflicting priorities, resource constraints, and scope disputes.
  • Influence without formal authority — building credibility through expertise, data, and consistent delivery.
  • Facilitate senior-level workshops, steering committees, and governance forums, driving decisions and resolving impasses.
  • Manage trade-offs between speed, quality, cost, and risk in a transparent and principled manner.

5. Challenging the Status Quo

  • Bring intellectual curiosity and a challenger mindset — proactively identifying inefficiencies, legacy constraints, and opportunities for step-change improvement.
  • Champion innovation and best-in-class practices by benchmarking against regional and global industry leaders.
  • Create the space for constructive challenge within teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and bold thinking.
  • Engage in courageous conversations with leadership when transformation initiatives require difficult organisational changes.

6. Change Management & Adoption

  • Design and execute end-to-end change management strategies that drive meaningful behavioural and cultural shifts across the organisation.
  • Develop change impact assessments, communication plans, and training programmes that enable sustainable adoption.
  • Embed change management as a core competency within project teams — ensuring people readiness is treated with the same rigour as technical delivery.
  • Monitor and measure change adoption through structured feedback loops and KPIs, intervening where resistance or fatigue is identified.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in business, management, marketing or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8–12 years of progressive experience in transformation, strategy, management, PMO, marketing and distribution who runs similar scale of transformation.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale, cross-functional transformation or change initiatives in complex organisations or start-up from Fintech or Insurtech.
  • Experience in the insurance, financial services, or broader financial industry is highly advantageous.
