Underground Detection and Mapping Operator

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Underground Detection Mapping Operator to carry out underground utility detection, mapping, and data recording works for infrastructure, construction, and land survey projects. The role involves operating detection equipment, collecting accurate field data, and preparing mapping outputs in accordance with project and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct underground utility detection surveys (water, sewer, electrical, telecom, gas, etc.)

Operate detection equipment such as GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar), EM locators, cable & pipe detectors

Accurately mark detected utilities on site and record field data

Perform field data collection using GPS / total station where required

Prepare underground utility maps, sketches, and reports

Transfer and process survey data using CAD / GIS software

Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and site procedures

Coordinate with surveyors, engineers, and project teams

Maintain and calibrate survey and detection equipment

Assist in risk assessment and utility verification before excavation works

Requirements

Diploma / Certificate in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field

Minimum 13 years experience in underground utility detection or land surveying (fresh graduates may be considered)

Knowledge of underground utility detection methods and standards

Familiar with GPR, EM detectors, GPS, and basic surveying instruments

Able to read construction drawings and utility plans

Basic knowledge of AutoCAD / GIS software is an advantage

Physically fit and willing to work outdoors

Valid driving license (preferred)
