Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a senior compliance professional to join the APAC Compliance team, providing independent second line compliance oversight, advisory and challenge across the firm's investment management and distribution activities.

This is a regional role covering multiple APAC jurisdictions and both public and private investment management businesses, with exposure to institutional and intermediary clients. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, providing practical and commercially sound guidance on complex regulatory matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide independent compliance advisory and oversight across APAC investment management and distribution activities.
  • Advise senior stakeholders on regulatory requirements, cross-border activities, investment products, marketing and distribution.
  • Monitor and interpret regulatory developments across key APAC jurisdictions and coordinate implementation of regulatory change.
  • Support new products, business initiatives and market expansions from a regulatory and compliance perspective.
  • Develop and maintain regional compliance policies, procedures and frameworks.
  • Lead or support risk-based compliance monitoring, testing and surveillance programmes.
  • Identify, assess and escalate regulatory risks, compliance issues and control gaps, ensuring appropriate remediation.
  • Support regulatory inspections, audits, enquiries and filings across relevant APAC jurisdictions.
  • Develop and deliver compliance training and communicate regulatory developments to the business.
  • Prepare compliance reporting for senior management and relevant governance forums.
  • Partner closely with Global Compliance, Legal, Enterprise Risk, Internal Audit and other control functions.
  • Contribute to regional and global compliance projects and initiatives.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
  • 8+ years of relevant compliance advisory experience within financial services, with significant experience in investment management or asset management.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements across APAC, particularly markets such as Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Australia and/or Southeast Asia.
  • Strong understanding of distribution, cross-border activities and investment products.
  • Experience in regulatory change, compliance advisory, monitoring/testing and policy development.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior business leaders.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills, with sound judgement and integrity.
  • Ability to operate independently in a complex, multi-jurisdictional environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with a global asset manager or investment management firm.
  • Exposure to US, UK or EMEA regulatory requirements.
  • Relevant professional qualifications in compliance, law, risk, accounting or finance.
