Job Description:
Layout Design and Optimization
- Strategic Planning: Develop and maintain the master layout plan for new and existing fulfillment centers, ensuring alignment with long-term capacity forecasts and projected inventory profiles.
- Layout Redesign: Conduct continuous analysis of current layouts (e.g., using spaghetti diagrams, heat maps, and travel path analysis) to identify bottlenecks and areas for optimization.
- Flow Efficiency: Design optimal warehouse flows for all processes (Inbound, Putaway, Picking, Packing, Outbound) to minimize travel time, reduce congestion, and maximize labor productivity.
- Capacity Planning: Calculate and ensure maximum space utilization (vertical and horizontal) while adhering to safety standards and operational access requirements.
Execution and Implementation
- Layout Visualization: Create detailed technical drawings and visual mockups (2D and 3D) of proposed layout changes using appropriate software.
- Cross-Functional Execution: Work directly with relevant Warehouse Leads and operational teams to finalize, execute, and monitor approved layout modifications (e.g., racking changes, re-slotting projects, conveyor re-routes).
- Project Management: Lead or support the implementation phase of layout projects, ensuring changes are rolled out on time, within budget, and with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
Collaboration and Analysis
- Data-Driven Decisions: Utilize data on SKU velocity, order profile, material handling equipment (MHE) performance, and labor KPIs to inform all layout decisions (e.g., Slotting strategy).
- Stakeholder Alignment: Present layout proposals and associated financial/operational impact analyses to senior management for approval.
- Continuous Improvement: Post-implementation, conduct audits to verify the expected operational improvements were achieved and document best practices for standardization across the warehouse network.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all layout designs comply with local safety regulations and Shopee's internal safety standards, particularly concerning aisles, emergency exits, and equipment movement paths.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of professional experience in warehouse layout design, industrial engineering, or facility planning within a high-volume logistics, e-commerce, or manufacturing environment.
- Expertise in CAD Software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp) for creating and modifying technical warehouse drawings is essential.
- Proven experience in a role requiring direct, hands-on collaboration with operational teams for project execution.
- Good communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams (procurement, outbound, suppliers) and align inventory strategies with broader operational goals.
- Proficient in verbal and written English communication, with the ability to document procedures, train teams, and collaborate with international stakeholders if needed.
