The Workday Functional Lead is responsible for the administration, enhancement, support, and
optimization of Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) modules, with primary specialization in Recruitment, Benefits, and Core HCM. The role serves as the functional subject matter expert (SME), partnering closely with HR stakeholders, HRIS, IT teams, and external system integrators to translate business requirements into scalable Workday solutions
Workday Functional Support & Configuration
Serve as the functional lead and subject matter expert for Workday Recruitment, Benefits, and Core
HCM modules.
Analyze business requirements and recommend Workday best practice solutions to meet
organizational needs.
Configure and maintain business processes, condition rules, notifications, validations, security
intersections, and tenant setup.
Provide production support and troubleshoot functional issues raised by HR teams and end users.
Investigate system defects and coordinate resolution with internal teams and system integrators.
Ensure system configurations comply with company policies, governance standards, and Workday
best practices.
Stakeholder Management & Business Partnership
Partner closely with HRIS, HR Business Partners, Recruitment teams, Benefits teams, and
business stakeholders to gather and document requirements.
Act as the key liaison between HR, IT, HRIS, and external implementation partners or system
integrators.
Facilitate workshops, solution design discussions, and requirement validation sessions.
Provide functional consultation on process improvements and digital transformation initiatives.
Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate project progress, risks, and mitigation plans.
Project Delivery & Enhancements
Lead functional design and implementation activities for Workday enhancements, releases, and
transformation initiatives.
Review and approve functional specifications, configuration workbooks, and solution designs
prepared by vendors or implementation partners.
Support Workday feature adoption by evaluating new releases and recommending suitable
functionalities.
Participate in change management and deployment activities for new processes and system
capabilities.
Ensure successful delivery of projects within agreed timelines and quality standards.
Data Management, Validation & EIB Processing
Execute and support mass data uploads using Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB).
Perform data correction activities and maintain employee master data integrity.
Conduct data validation, reconciliation, and quality checks before and after data loads.
Support data migration activities for implementations, acquisitions, and organizational changes.
Identify and resolve data inconsistencies and recommend preventive controls.
Testing & Quality Assurance
Develop test strategies, test scenarios, and test scripts for system enhancements and releases.
Lead and coordinate System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and
regression testing activities.
Support defect triage, issue resolution, and retesting efforts.
Validate functional requirements and ensure solutions meet business expectations before
deployment.
Maintain testing documentation and audit records.
Integration & Cross-System Support
Collaborate with integration teams to support inbound and outbound integrations between Workday
and third-party applications.
Assist in integration testing, data mapping validation, and troubleshooting of integration issues.
Support integration change requests and impact assessments.
Monitor integration results and work with technical teams to resolve data transmission exceptions.
User Support, Training & Documentation
Provide functional guidance and support to HR users and business stakeholders.
Develop and maintain process documentation, user guides, and knowledge articles.
Conduct training sessions and knowledge transfer activities for HR and HRIS teams.
Promote system adoption and standardization across business units.
About you:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer
Science, or a related discipline.
Workday certifications in HCM, Recruiting, or Benefits are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum 5-8 years of experience in HRIS, Human Capital Management systems, or HR technology
solutions.
Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on Workday functional experience in Recruitment, Benefits, and Core
HCM modules.
Experience supporting Workday implementation, enhancement, or post-production support
environments.
Experience working with global or regional HR organizations and cross-functional stakeholders.
Proven experience collaborating with external system integrators and vendors.
Functional Knowledge
Strong understanding of Core HCM business processes, organizational structures, staffing models,
job management, and worker lifecycle transactions.
Strong knowledge of Workday Recruiting processes, candidate lifecycle management, requisitions,
offer management, and onboarding touchpoints.
Good understanding of Benefits administration and related employee lifecycle processes.
Familiarity with Workday security concepts, business processes, condition rules, reports, and
calculated fields.
Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), testing methodologies, and release
management practices.
Technical Skills
Hands-on experience with Workday configuration and tenant management activities.
Experience performing EIB loads, data mass updates, data corrections, and data validation
activities.
Ability to execute and support SIT, UAT, regression testing, and defect management.
Experience supporting Workday integrations and collaborating with integration teams.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis, reconciliation, and validation.
Familiarity with Workday reporting, custom reports, and dashboards.
Knowledge of Workday Studio, Core Connectors, PICOF, or integration frameworks is
advantageous.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ability to communicate effectively with HR stakeholders, technical teams, and external vendors.
Additional regional language proficiency is an advantage in a multinational environment.
