Overview:
The Workload Automation Analyst is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of batch jobs within Control-M and Stonebranch environments. This role bridges the gap between service requests and technical execution, ensuring that all job configurations-whether for Business-as-Usual (BAU) stability or new Project deployments-are set up accurately according to ITSM tickets.
Responsibilities:
Job Setup & Configuration: Define, schedule, and configure new batch jobs and workflows in Control-M and Stonebranch based on technical specifications provided via ITSM requests (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
BAU Support: Manage existing production schedules, performing modifications, calendar updates, and parameter tuning to ensure daily business continuity.
Project Delivery: Collaborate with project teams to migrate job definitions from UAT to Production, ensuring all dependencies and conditions are correctly mapped.
Monitoring & Recovery: Perform real-time monitoring of the automation estate. Troubleshoot job failures (abends), perform restarts, and escalate persistent issues to senior engineers.
Compliance & Documentation: Ensure every change to the scheduling environment is linked to a valid ITSM change/task record. Maintain up-to-date runbooks.
Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Tool Proficiency: . Practical experience with Control-M (Planning & Monitoring domains).
- Practical experience with Stonebranch Universal Controller (Task definitions and Workflows).
AS/400 Knowledge: . Familiarity with AS/400 (IBM i) environments, including managing Job Queues (JOBQ), Output Queues (OUTQ), and responding to Message Waits (MSGW).
- Understanding of how Control-M/Stonebranch agents interact with the AS/400 system.
ITSM Process Knowledge: Understanding of Request Fulfillment and Change Management processes (e.g., working with Incident, Problem, and Change tickets).
Technical Environment: . Ability to script basic commands in Linux/Unix or Windows PowerShell.
- Understanding of job dependencies, conditions, and resource quantitative/control resources.
Attention to Detail: High accuracy in entering job parameters (paths, script names, owner credentials) to prevent production outages.
