Account Executive
Location: Malaysia
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Account Executive to join our Finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting day-to-day accounting operations, and assisting in statutory and management reporting across Malaysia and Singapore entities.
Responsibilities
1. Bookkeeping & General Ledger
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records in the ERP system.
- Post and reconcile journal entries across revenue, expenses, and balance sheet accounts.
- Ensure transactions are properly classified in line with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS).
2. Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process supplier invoices, staff travel claims, and payment runs accurately and on time.
- Issue customer invoices and follow up on outstanding receivables.
- Maintain AP/AR aging reports and escalate overdue accounts as needed.
3. Bank Reconciliation & Cash Management
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts (MYR and foreign currency).
- Monitor daily cash positions and report discrepancies promptly.
- Prepare cash flow summaries when required.
4. Financial Reporting Support
- Assist in preparing monthly management accounts (P&L and Balance Sheet).
- Support group consolidation reporting.
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
5. Statutory Compliance
- Assist in SST returns, payroll statutory submissions (EPF, SOCSO, EIS, PCB), and tax schedules.
- Liaise with auditors, tax agents, and the company secretary as required.
- Ensure proper filing and audit-ready documentation.
6. Singapore Entity Support (Secondary)
- Assist in bookkeeping and transaction recording for Singapore operations.
- Support bank reconciliation and AP/AR tracking.
- Prepare schedules for financial reporting and audits.
- Basic knowledge of Singapore GST is an advantage.
7. Administrative & Ad Hoc Support
- Manage petty cash and reimbursements.
- Support finance SOP implementation and process improvements.
- Perform other finance-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Part-qualified or pursuing ACCA, CIMA, MICPA, or equivalent qualification is an advantage.
- 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in an SME or tech environment.
- Experience with accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, or ERP systems).
- Knowledge of Malaysian statutory requirements (SST, EPF, SOCSO, PCB) is essential.
- Basic understanding of Singapore GST/ACRA is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and high accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Good time management and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- High integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
