About the Role

We are seeking a high-calibre ASEANPlantation Analyst to lead researchcoverage of the regional palm oil sector and listed companies across Bursa Malaysia, Singapore Exchange, and Indonesia Stock Exchange.

This role offers a unique platform that combines equity research, derivatives insight, and real-world industry access, with direct exposure to leading plantation companies, traders, and institutional investors.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct equity research on listed plantation companies, including financial performance, earnings quality, cost structure, and operational efficiency.
  • Build and maintain valuation models (DCF, NAV, EV-based metrics) and perform regional benchmarking (Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore).
  • Produce research outputs such as initiation reports, quarterly updates, and thematic sector insights.
  • Analyse key industry drivers including CPO price trends, supply-demand dynamics, policy changes, ESG trends, and weather patterns.
  • Conduct site visits to plantations and mills to validate operational data and assess estate practices.
  • Engage with company management and industry participants (traders, refiners, agronomists, executives) to gather market intelligence and identify trends and risks.
  • Provide market updates and investment insights to institutional clients, including stock ideas/valuation perspectives and responding to market-moving developments.
  • Collaborate with the derivatives desk on CPO market views, hedging strategies, and cross-asset analysis.
  • Lead and organise palm oil outlook seminars across Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia, including panel moderation, presentation preparation, engagement with industry leaders, and contributing to the firm's thought leadership in the sector.

Job Requirements:

  • 2–8 years of experience in equity research, commodities, plantations, or related fields.
  • Strong financial modelling and valuation skills, with a strong interest in palm oil and agricultural markets.
  • Willingness to conduct fieldwork and regional travel (Malaysia, Singapore & Indonesia).
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills, with the ability to engage industry stakeholders and support investment discussions.
  • Familiarity with regional plantation industry players.
  • Prior experience covering plantation companies or related sector research.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin and/or Bahasa Malaysia.
