The Cash Management, Assistant Manager supports the group's cash management, banking, and treasury functions. The role is responsible for maintaining strong internal controls over treasury and risk management activities in collaboration with the group treasury team. Key responsibilities include administering and maintaining online banking platforms, preparing and reviewing bank reconciliations, and preparing, consolidating, and analyzing the company's actual cash flow and cash position. The role also supports funding-related activities and ensures the timely and accurate execution of treasury operations while maintaining compliance with internal policies and controls.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Cash Balances & Cash Movement Reporting
- Own the end-to-end preparation, review, and consolidation of monthly bank balance and cash movement reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely reporting to HQ and investors.
- Perform analytical review of cash movements, identify variances, and provide clear explanations to stakeholders.
2. Bank Reconciliation
- Perform daily and weekly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting records.
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items promptly, maintaining clear issue logs for cash and bank discrepancies.
- Liaise with cross-functional teams to clear outstanding reconciliation issues efficiently.
- Coordinate with GSC, HQ, and local country finance teams to ensure timely month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare weekly and monthly journal entries for review, approval, and posting.
- Coach and guide junior team members in performing bank reconciliations and preparing journal entries, ensuring accuracy and adherence to internal controls.
- Own and present monthly analysis reports on unreconciled transactions, highlighting risks, root causes, and corrective actions.
3. Bank Operations & Administration
- Manage the opening, maintenance, and closure of bank accounts, including updates to bank signatories.
- Take the lead on projects involving the opening of global bank accounts with new banking partners.
- Liaise with banking partners to resolve operational issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain strong relationships with banks and Group Treasury stakeholders.
- Manage user bank access, including creation, modification, and annual access reviews to ensure appropriateness and compliance.
- Maintain the master bank account list, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and alignment with group standards.
4. Continuous Improvement & Other Responsibilities
- Resolve issues escalated from local country teams and escalate to management where necessary.
- Ensure strong internal controls are in place and that accounting practices comply with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
- Stay informed of updates to internal guidelines and external treasury and banking regulations.
- Prepare and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and desk procedures.
- Proactively identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives in cash management processes, including standardization and automation.
- Leverage technology to automate processes and reports, collaborating with finance teams to enhance efficiency.
- Establish effective communication channels and maintain strong working relationships with HK HQ, GSC teams, and local country stakeholders.
- Support ad-hoc tasks and projects as assigned.
5. Leadership Responsibilities
- Assist the Cash Management Manager in leading and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Cash Management team to ensure service excellence and operational efficiency.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture by promoting open communication, teamwork, accountability, and mutual respect.
- Support the Manager in setting team objectives, monitoring performance, and providing constructive feedback to drive continuous improvement.
- Assist in onboarding, training, and mentoring new team members to ensure effective knowledge transfer and adherence to established processes and controls. Encourage a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, enhance controls, and implement best practices.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and issue resolution.
- Support change management initiatives by promoting adoption of new systems, processes, and ways of working within the team.
- Act as the Manager's delegate when required, ensuring continuity of operations and timely decision-making in the Manager's absence.
Job Requirements:
Education / professional qualification
Bachelor's degree in finance, accountancy, banking, or an equivalent discipline.
Professional experience
- Minimum 5–8 years of post-qualification experience in cash management, treasury, or a related finance function, including at least 2–4 years in a supervisory or team leadership role.
- Exposure to managing multi-currency portfolios within an MNC or global shared services center (SSC) environment is preferred.
- Intermediate or at least basic proficiency in Microsoft excel.
- Experience in establishing and/or maintaining treasury processes and internal controls is advantageous.
- Exposure to process standardization and automation initiatives is an added advantage.
Technical competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivotable, charts, data analysis, and reporting. Experience with macros and VBA is an added advantage.
- Solid understanding of month-end close processes, including analysis of profit and loss (p&l) statements and balance sheets.
- Good knowledge of cash management, treasury operations, banking processes, and financial controls.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders across different levels of the organization.
- Excellent written and spoken English. Proficiency in Cantonese is an added advantage.
