Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Accounting and closing: Manage day-to-day accounting for assigned entities, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end closing within agreed deadlines.
- Financial reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash-flow statements, with supporting schedules and clear commentary on performance and significant variances. Apply relevant MFRS requirements and company accounting policies.
- Group reporting: Prepare consolidation schedules, intercompany reconciliations and elimination entries for assigned entities, and support the preparation of consolidated management accounts.
- Project cost control: Monitor project budgets, committed costs, actual expenditure and estimated costs to complete. Review cost overruns and project margin movements with project managers and recommend corrective actions.
- Project accounting and billing: Review project revenue and cost recognition, progress billings, contract balances and retention schedules, where applicable, using supporting contracts and project progress information.
- Cash flow and working capital: Prepare rolling cash-flow forecasts, monitor customer collections and overdue balances, and coordinate payment plans with project milestones. Escalate potential funding shortfalls to finance leadership.
- Budgeting and analysis: Support annual budgets and periodic forecasts; analyse actual results against budget and explain key movements, risks and opportunities to management.
- Audit and tax support: Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations and tax information; coordinate with external auditors and tax agents; and track outstanding matters and agreed deadlines. Support tax planning under finance leadership.
- Controls and improvements: Implement and monitor accounting policies and internal controls, improve reporting and closing processes, and raise control weaknesses or accounting issues promptly.
- Stakeholder coordination: Liaise with project teams, bankers, auditors, tax agents and relevant authorities on assigned finance matters. Monitor relevant accounting and tax developments and support agreed updates to processes.
- Team support: Where staff are assigned, review their work, guide reconciliations and closing activities, and support their development. Escalate approval matters in line with delegated authority.
- PPA portfolio support: Where assigned, monitor electricity billing, operating costs, financing repayments and asset-level cash flows for power purchase agreement (PPA) assets.
Requirements:
- Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Professional Certificate (ACCA / ICAEW / CPA / CIMA) or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of relevant accounting and finance experience, preferably in solar industry, engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC), or construction.
- Extensive experience in handling full set of accounts and completing month-end and year-end closing, with sound knowledge of MFRS and financial reporting. Project accounting experience is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and AutoCount is preferred.
- Analytical, organised and resourceful, able to work independently to meet tight deadlines.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Mandarin proficiency is an added advantage.
