We're Hiring

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Manager, Shariah Compliance to support the effective implementation of Shariah and regulatory compliance across the organisation. This role works closely with business units, senior management, and governance committees to ensure strong compliance standards are upheld.

  • Proactively identify, monitor, and report Shariah and regulatory compliance risks, including non-compliance incidents, and advise Business Units on regulatory requirements and corrective actions.
  • Conduct compliance self-assessments and gap analyses against applicable laws, regulations, and Shariah Advisory Council (SAC) rulings, including tracking action plans to full closure with supporting evidence.
  • Plan and execute compliance assessments and reviews by defining scope and methodology, gathering information, and preparing findings and recommendations.
  • Prepare and present compliance reports and action plan updates to Board Committees and the Shariah Advisory Board.
  • Support compliance due diligence for third-party onboarding and annual evaluations, including documentation review and conflict-of-interest checks in collaboration with HR.
  • Maintain and update the Compliance Obligations Register and communicate regulatory and Shariah updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support Operational Risk Management activities, including Key Risk Indicator (KRI) reporting, incident reporting, and Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA).

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Shariah, Law, or a related discipline.
  • 35 years of experience in Shariah compliance, Shariah audit, legal, or regulatory compliance (insurance/takaful experience is an advantage).
  • Experience in Shariah compliance risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of laws and regulations governing the takaful/insurance industry or related financial services in Malaysia.
  • Good understanding of takaful/insurance operations or related business processes.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
  • Detail-oriented problem solver and deliver practical, risk-aware solutions.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism, with sound judgment in handling confidential and sensitive information.
