AVS Architect

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Azure VMware Solution (AVS) Solution Architect to lead large‑scale cloud infrastructure design and migration initiatives for enterprise customers. This role focuses on architecting, governing, and guiding complex migrations from on‑premises VMware environments to Azure VMware Solution, while ensuring security, scalability, resilience, and alignment with business goals.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise across VMware technologies, Azure infrastructure, hybrid cloud architectures, and enterprise consulting, with strong stakeholder engagement and presales capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Migration Leadership

• Partner with program managers and service delivery teams to plan, architect, and guide complex enterprise infrastructure deployments and migrations
• Lead customer migrations from on‑premises VMware environments to Azure VMware Solution (AVS)
• Work directly with enterprise application, infrastructure, and security stakeholders to define requirements, migration strategies, and operating models
• Develop migration approaches, roadmaps, effort estimates, and technical architectures

Solution Design & Governance

• Architect and design secure, scalable, and resilient datacenter and hybrid cloud infrastructures using VMware and Azure technologies
• Define and govern architectural standards, best practices, and patterns aligned with enterprise architecture principles
• Evaluate technical risks and provide mitigation strategies across network, compute, storage, and security layers

Presales & Consulting Engagement

• Contribute to presales activities, including solution creation, architecture design, and articulation of winning value propositions
• Create and present solution documents, proposals, and technical presentations to enterprise customers
• Act as a trusted technical advisor for Azure and AVS adoption journeys

Knowledge Sharing & Enablement

• Maintain deep expertise in the latest Azure, AVS, and VMware product capabilities
• Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and provide technical enablement and training to internal teams
• Share knowledge through architecture documentation, solution assets, automated self‑help content, and technical communities

• VMware vSphere 6.x and above
• VMware NSX‑T and NSX Edge Services (DNS, DHCP, Gateway Firewall, Distributed Firewall)
• NSX migrations from VLAN / NSX‑V
• VMware vSAN
• VMware HCX (Advanced & Enterprise)
• VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) and vSphere Replication
• VMware Management Suite (vROps, vRNI, vRLI, vCD)
• VMware Cloud Director

Azure Technologies

• Azure networking services including ExpressRoute, VPN, Virtual WAN, Route Server
• Azure infrastructure services such as Virtual Networks, Virtual Machines, Azure Blob Storage
• Azure NetApp Files and Azure Disk Pools
• Azure Monitoring, Azure Arc, Microsoft Defender for Cloud
• Azure governance using RBAC, cost management, and security best practices
• Azure automation using ARM templates, PowerShell DSC, Azure Automation
• Identity and access management using Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)

Cloud & Security

• Strong understanding of claims‑based authentication (SAML, OAuth, OIDC), MFA, and RBAC
• Experience setting up monitoring and diagnostics for applications and infrastructure
• Deep knowledge of platform architecture concepts: compute, storage, networking, security, HA/DR, patching, and monitoring

Programming & Automation

• Knowledge of scripting and programming languages such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, C#, Java, JavaScript
• Hands‑on experience with automation and infrastructure deployment

Experience Requirements

• 15+ years of overall IT experience
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience with Azure VMware Solution (AVS)
• 5+ years of experience with VMware vSphere, Azure cloud deployments, and cloud migrations
• Strong consulting experience delivering large‑scale enterprise Azure solutions
• Proven experience working with enterprise customers in complex, business‑critical environments
