Reporting into Head of Project Sales, we are searching for a team member to join us as Business Development Manager.

As the Business Development Manager, your role is to drive Knauf's sales and growth by building stakeholder relationships, converting pipeline opportunities, delivering product presentations, coordinating specs and follow-ups, engaging across project lifecycles, proposing value-driven solutions, tracking the market, and meeting/reporting volume and price targets.

What you will be doing

As a Business Development Manager, your key daily duties will be:

  • Market Development & Sales Leadership: Build territory/account plans and pricing strategies to achieve volume and price targets; manage monthly forecasts, pipeline health, and performance vs target.
  • Stakeholder Management: Develop and deepen relationships with developers, consultants/architects, main and sub-contractors, and dealers/distributors; map decision-makers and influence specifications.
  • Pipeline & Opportunity Conversion: Identify and qualify projects early, pursue tenders and negotiations, secure specifications, and close orders to meet revenue and margin goals.
  • Product & System Presentations: Deliver tailored product/system presentations, demos, and trainings that communicate value, compliance, and performance.
  • Project Coordination & Follow-through: Coordinate specifications, technical submissions, samples/mock-ups, and approvals with internal teams; ensure timely touchpoints at each project stage.
  • Solutioning & Quantity Guidance: Recommend optimal systems and value-engineered alternatives; provide basic take-offs/quantity guidance and BOQ inputs to support proposals.
  • Project Tracking & Engagement: Monitor project timelines from design to installation/handover and engage at key milestones to protect and win the order.
  • Market & Competitor Intelligence: Track market trends, competitor products/pricing, and project movements; update CRM and share insights to refine strategy.
  • Commercial Negotiation & Governance: Prepare proposals/quotations, negotiate terms within pricing frameworks, and ensure margin discipline and policy compliance.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Technical, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure availability, service levels, and customer satisfaction.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate CRM records, weekly pipeline updates, and monthly reports vs targets; develop account plans and action trackers.
  • Travel & Site Engagement: Conduct regular stakeholder and site visits across peninsular Malaysia.

What we would love for you to have

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in Sales, Business Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: At least 4–5 years in the construction or building materials industry with a strong understanding of construction processes and project flow.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, influential presentation, negotiation, decision-making, problem-solving, planning, and leadership abilities.
  • Attributes: Proactive, independent, highly motivated, and a self-starter with strong ownership.
  • Other requirements: Proficiency in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Mandarin, and the ability and willingness to travel within assigned regions.
