Job Description

Job Title: Business Development Manager

Reporting Line: Commercial Manager

Location: Kuala Lumpur

Job Specification

The objective of this role is the development of revenue opportunities to meet sales targets for assigned portfolio. These sectors can include territories, customer segments or specific accounts. In addition they will be responsible for margin delivery and developing sales plans for product mix and pricing to meet margin targets.

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing sales initiatives, activity plans, and key account development plans and forecasts, under guidance and supervision from the Commercial Manager, to meet sales targets.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Ownership and delivery of sales and margin
  • Prepare and deliver yearly sales plan, forecasts and budget with Commercial Manager.
  • Responsible for the sales and margin for the assigned portfolio
  • Develop strategies to win new business or penetrate market/ customers.
  • Research market and provide sales forecast using sales pipeline data to grow portfolio
  • Evaluate opportunities and risks of each opportunities and make recommendations
  • Prepare and present to customers product and other service offering.
  • Prepare high quality quotation and tender documents to meet customer requirements
  • Guide and manage Business Development Executives reporting to them (if applicable) to achieve both activity plans and sales targets.
  • Assist with customer service on customer outstanding debt collection
  • Management of new sales and accounts
  • Focal point for customers within assigned portfolio
  • Enter, track and follow-up on all leads and opportunities using CRM, record and analyse win/ loss data and make recommendations
  • Establish and maintain good relations with all major customers and potential customers and achieve positive Net Promoter Score (NPS) from customers
  • Cold calling and follow up on contacts to develop new customers
  • Review all existing contracts and ensure that the company is maximizing the revenue/profits from these arrangements.
  • Negotiate and manage Company's contract with customers and major suppliers (if required).
  • Prepare customer proposals and manage quotation process and ensured that all quotations are reviewed and approved by appropriate authority level.
  • Provide analysis of portfolio on a periodical basis, including competitor and market share analysis.

Administration

  • Participate and provide updates to weekly meeting on actions performed on previous week and actions required for upcoming week
  • Other ad-hoc requests, market research, sales reports and meetings/ conferences as and when required by management
  • Working as a team and demonstrate leadership

Qualifications And Experience

  • Business or communications qualifications essential.
  • Industry / Transferable Experience & Technical Skills
  • Proven track record in new business development initiatives and activities.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills are essential.
  • A capacity to confidently facilitate meetings and deliver presentations.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • High level of oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage and operate within a budget.
