About Our Client:
Our client is a fast-growing value retail chain specializing in affordable lifestyle and household products, supported by an extensive and expanding store network.
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end operations, including retail performance, supply chain, and operational scalability. This role partners closely with the CEO to drive execution of business strategy while building efficient systems to support rapid expansion.
Key Responsibilities
Retail Operations Leadership
- Oversee performance and operations across all retail outlets
- Drive store productivity, sales performance, and customer experience
- Optimize staffing structures and implement standardized SOPs
- Lead new store openings and operational readiness
Supply Chain & Inventory Management
- Manage product assortment and large SKU environment (10,000+ SKUs)
- Optimize procurement strategies and supplier management
- Improve warehouse efficiency, logistics, and distribution
- Monitor inventory turnover and replenishment cycles
Store Network Performance
- Drive sales per square foot and overall store profitability
- Enhance merchandising strategies and in-store execution
- Improve workforce efficiency and operational workflows
Operational Scaling & Systems
- Build scalable processes, SOPs, and operational frameworks
- Establish KPI structures and performance tracking systems
- Develop training and capability-building programs
- Support expansion from mid-sized to large-scale retail network
Data-Driven Decision Making
- Analyze store-level sales, SKU performance, and margins
- Monitor labour cost ratios and operational efficiency metrics
- Use data insights to drive continuous improvement
Strategic Execution
- Translate business strategy into operational execution
- Partner with CEO on performance tracking and growth initiatives
- Lead continuous improvement across all operational functions
Key Requirements
- 10–15 years of experience in retail operations, with strong exposure to large-scale chain environments
- Proven leadership experience managing 100+ retail outlets or equivalent scale operations
- Strong expertise in supply chain, inventory management, and high-SKU environments
- Experience in value retail / chain retail / FMCG / supermarket / convenience retail preferred
- Demonstrated success in scaling operations and building systems for growth
- Highly analytical with strong data-driven decision-making capabilities
- Strong leadership, execution, and cross-functional stakeholder management skills
Remuneration:
- MYR 20,000 - MYR 40,000 (Open for further discussion depending on experience)
