Role Summary
The GL & Cost Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial accounting and cost management activities for the entities. The role serves as the key liaison between local Finance teams, Global Business Services (GBS), auditors, tax advisors, and other internal stakeholders to ensure timely financial reporting, statutory compliance, and effective cost management.
Responsibilities
GL:
- Liaise with GBS to ensure financial statements are prepared accurately, within prescribed timelines, and in compliance with local statutory requirements and Group policies.
- Review accounting entries posted by GBS and ensure the correct treatment of accruals, provisions, depreciation, amortization, impairment, and period-end cut-off adjustments.
- Prepare monthly Group financial reporting.
- Manage monthly tax review (GST, SST, VAT, WHT and other applicable taxes) and ensure timely submission.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations between local and IFRS accounts.
- Prepare annual equity reconciliations and Country-by-Country reporting (tax-related).
- Support Finance Controllers in cash flow monitoring and cash flow forecasting activities.
- Act as the key contact person for external auditors and coordinate annual statutory audits.
- Support Tax Managers and tax advisors on annual tax filings, transfer pricing studies, tax audits, and other tax-related matters by providing accounting information and documentation.
- Prepare and submit annual Internal Control Questionnaires and support internal control compliance initiatives.
- Serve as the primary coordinator between Finance Controllers and the GBS PTP (Procure-to-Pay) and OTC (Order-to-Cash) teams.
- Support finance projects and perform other ad hoc assignments as required.
Cost:
- Calculate cost price, base price, and transfer price while analyzing evolution against prior year and budget.
- Update and maintain costing and pricing information within SAP and other relevant systems.
- Communicate approved pricing information to relevant Legrand Group entities and stakeholders.
- Perform gross margin calculations and profitability analyses upon request.
- Support management with cost analysis and pricing insights to facilitate informed business decisions.
Role Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in General Ledger accounting, financial reporting, and cost accounting.
- Experience working with shared service centers (GBS/SSC) will be an advantage.
- Experience in ERP systems (SAP experience preferred).
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage and collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders across functions and countries.
- Proactive, confident, and hands-on approach to resolving issues and driving improvements.
