Data Scientist

About the Role

We're hiring for our client for a Data Scientist to drive the development and integration of advanced Machine Learning and Generative AI solutions. You'll work across data infrastructure and AI platforms, including Google Vertex AI and external AI ecosystems, while developing and enhancing RAG capabilities for AI Agents.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of machine learning models, from data analysis and feature engineering through to deployment, monitoring and maintenance
• Develop and deploy predictive models, primarily using Google Vertex AI
• Manage the integration, performance and governance of models across external AI platforms
• Design and optimise RAG systems, including data retrieval and embedding models
• Conduct model tuning and experimentation to improve performance, accuracy and efficiency
• Analyse structured and unstructured data to identify trends and develop data-driven solutions
• Collaborate with business, product, data engineering and machine learning teams to deliver AI solutions
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior Data Scientists
• Promote best practices in MLOps, model versioning and documentation

Requirements

• 5–6 years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning or a related field
• Master's or Doctorate in Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Finance, Engineering or a related discipline
• Strong understanding of statistical analysis, data mining and/or machine learning
• Hands-on experience working with large structured and unstructured datasets
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business challenges into data-driven solutions
• Proficiency in one or more of Python, R, Spark, Hive, Impala, Pig or Scala
• Familiarity with AWS/GCP environments is advantageous
• Experience writing production code is beneficial
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and responding to new challenges
