Health, Safety & Environment Manager

ROLE OVERVIEW
An established industrial organisation is seeking an experienced EHS Manager to lead Environmental, Health & Safety strategy, compliance, and continuous improvement across operations. This is a managerial role with full ownership of EHS systems, regulatory compliance, and safety culture.
KEY RESPONSBILITIES
Strategic EHS Leadership
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and management systems
- Lead and manage ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 implementation, certification, and maintenance
- Set EHS objectives aligned with organizational and business goals
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Malaysian regulations including OSHA 1994, FMA 1967, DOE requirements, and Environmental Quality Act
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, auditors, and certification bodies
- Monitor legal updates and advise management accordingly
Risk Management & Incident Prevention
- Conduct risk assessments, HIRARC / JSA, inspections, and audits
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; drive corrective and preventive actions
- Track EHS KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Environmental Management
- Manage waste reduction, pollution control, and energy efficiency initiatives
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials
- Oversee environmental monitoring, reporting, and DOE compliance
Safety Culture & Training
- Lead EHS training for employees, contractors, and visitors
- Promote a proactive, safety-first culture across all levels
- Chair Safety & Health Committee meetings
Emergency Preparedness & Governance
- Develop and maintain emergency response and fire safety plans
- Conduct drills and ensure readiness of emergency equipment
- Manage contractor EHS compliance, permit-to-work systems, and site controls
- Prepare EHS reports and dashboards for senior management
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health, HSE, or related field
- Minimum 5 years experience in EHS (manufacturing / industrial environment preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian EHS legislation and ISO standards
- Registered SHO with DOSH is highly preferred
- Ability to work independently and lead EHS matters end-to-end
