A Brief Overview

Lead the Life & Health (L&H) claims function for the local reinsurance office in Southeast Asia, ensuring efficient, fair, and compliant claims management. Drive technical excellence, operational efficiency, and strategic initiatives to support sustainable growth, client trust, and regulatory compliance across diverse SEA markets.

What You Will Do

  • Claims Leadership & Strategy Define and execute claims strategy aligned with SEA business objectives. Align claims practices with regional and global standards while adapting to local market needs. Represent claims in local leadership forums and regional committees.
  • Operational Excellence Oversee end-to-end claims handling for life and health treaties and facultative business. Ensure timely, accurate assessment and settlement of claims, including complex and high-value cases. Implement best practices for claims management and fraud detection.
  • Regulatory & Governance Ensure compliance with local regulations across SEA jurisdictions. Maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness. Monitor regulatory changes and adapt processes accordingly.
  • Client & Market Engagement Act as the primary claims contact for cedents, and internal stakeholders. Manage sensitive claims negotiations and provide technical guidance to clients. Build strong relationships to enhance client trust and retention.
  • Data Analytics & Insights Analyze claims experience and trends to support pricing, underwriting, and product development. Provide actionable insights to improve portfolio performance and risk management.
  • Team Leadership Lead and develop a high-performing claims team with expertise in life and health. Foster a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in vocational rehabilitation or health-related field required.
  • Master's degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) preferably in a field associated with medicine or law preferred.
  • 10+ Years of experience in life and health insurance/reinsurance claims, with at least 3 years in a leadership role required.
  • Familiarity with SEA regulatory frameworks and cross-border operations required.
  • Proven experience in managing complex claims and client negotiations required.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mortality, morbidity, medical, and disability products required.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills required.
  • Strategic thinking and decision-making required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
  • High integrity and professional ethics required.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment required.
  • Multi-market exposure Ability to navigate diverse regulatory and cultural environments required.
  • Digital & Data-driven mindset Familiarity with claims automation, predictive analytics, and fraud detection tools required.
  • Health ecosystem understanding Knowledge of regional healthcare systems and cost drivers required.
  • Accreditation or certification in Insurance Industry fields or disability and case management such as CRC, CDMS, CCM designations preferred.
  • Recognition in the Industry as a claims or disability management expert preferred.
