JOB PURPOSE
Execute, monitor, and support the implementation of sustainability strategic priorities by coordinating with relevant business units and meeting the requirements of local and international sustainability standards, to ensure effective delivery of MHB's sustainability strategy, achieving its target and fulfilling stakeholders expectations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Streamline, execute and monitor MHB's sustainability initiatives by assessing sustainability requirements through research and strategic thinking, and collaborating with relevant business units to effectively advance MHB's sustainability agenda and achieve the established sustainability target.
- Maintain, update, and enhance MHB's Sustainability and Climate Risk Frameworks, along with departmental procedures and/or guidelines, by benchmarking against local and global standards and requirements such as Bursa Malaysia, GRI, TCFD, ISSB, and UN SDGs and working closely with MISC Group to ensure alignment and support strategic sustainability goals.
- Monitor and review sustainability performance indicators (KPIs) by identifying performance gaps and working proactively with business units to plan mitigation actions and enhancements to ensure alignment with MHB corporate scorecard.
- Collect, consolidate, and validate[NA1.1] ESG data (e.g., GHG emissions, energy consumption, diversity, health & safety) by engaging with relevant business units to ensure data is complete, accurate, and aligns with relevant sustainability disclosure standards to enable transparent, consistent, and credible ESG reporting and support internal / external assurance process.
- Develop, analyze, and review MHB's Sustainability Initiatives[NA3.1] Roadmap by driving the proposal of new sustainability initiatives and collaborating with relevant business units to ensure their suitability to operational activities and potential to deliver measurable carbon reduction to support MHB's mid-term and long-term decarbonization target (20% reduction by 2030, Net Zero 2050) and align cross-functional sustainability efforts.
- Monitor, review and analyze Scope 1 and 2 emissions from operational activities by comparing actual data against baseline and calculating reductions from executed initiatives to ensure progress toward MHB's 20% emission intensity reduction by 2030 and MHB's GHG Net Zero 2050 target.
- Monitor and analyse emerging and current local or internationally recognized sustainability indices and disclosure platforms by conducting research and benchmarking to ensure compliance with the required requirements and regulations.
- Prepare and coordinate the production of Annual Sustainability Statement by collecting and organising the sustainability performance information from relevant stakeholders to ensure the disclosure of sustainability performance is following applicable sustainability reporting requirements / standards.
- Review and conduct periodical sustainability materiality assessment by engaging internal and external stakeholders, analyzing industry trends, and aligning with local/ global standards to inform strategic decision-making, enhance sustainability reporting, and ensure alignment with MHB's long-term sustainability goals.
- Plan and conduct sustainability-related training and awareness programs by developing targeted content and collaborating with business units to foster a sustainability-conscious culture and strengthen stakeholders alignment with MHB's sustainability goals and corporate scorecard targets.
- Support and coordinate human rights-related matters by collaborating with relevant business units to identify and address gaps, and respond to stakeholders requirements
REQUIREMENT:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field (Degree in Sustainability, Environmental, Engineering, Applied Science, Science, Social Studies)
- Certification in Sustainability (e.g. Sustainability Reporting, GRI, FSA)/ master's degree in Sustainability or any equivalent (e.g. Environmental Management) as an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in sustainability management.
- Understanding of ESG frameworks and emerging requirements (i.e: Bursa, ISSB, GRI, TNFD, etc)
- Knowledge of climate change, carbon accounting, decarbonisation strategies.
- Experience in preparing ESG reports and disclosures.
- Ability to collect, interpret, and visually present ESG data effectively
- Skills in materiality assessments, risk analysis, gap analysis.
- Ability to assess how sustainability impacts business strategy, risks, opportunities.
- Skills in shaping sustainability frameworks, roadmaps, or transition plans.
- Experience in social performance (i.e: human rights risks assessment/ due diligence) will be an added advantage.
