About the role
As a Failure Analysis Engineer at TF AMD MICROELECTRONICS (PENANG) SDN. BHD., you will play a crucial role in identifying and resolving complex electrical and electronic engineering challenges. This full-time position is based in Penang (Bayan Lepas or Batu Kawan) and offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and contribute to the company's continued success.
What you'll be doing
- Perform comprehensive failure analysis on semiconductor devices, advanced packages, or electronic systems across development and production stages
- Plan and execute electrical, physical, and material analyses using advanced FA techniques
- Independently conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and document clear, data-driven conclusions
- Utilize FA tools such as SEM, FIB, EDX, lock-in thermography, X-Ray, and probing techniques
- Interpret schematics, layouts, and test data to correlate failure mechanisms
- Support customer complaints, reliability issues, and qualification failures with timely and high-quality FA reports
- Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with cross-functional teams (Design, Process, Product, Manufacturing, Test)
- Develop and improve FA methodologies, best practices, and lab capabilities
- Mentor junior FA engineers and provide technical guidance as needed
- Ensure compliance with lab safety, quality, and documentation standards
What we're looking for
- Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or a related field
- Minimum 3-8 years of experience in failure analysis or a similar engineering role in semiconductor or electronics industry
- Strong knowledge of semiconductor device physics, fabrication processes, and advanced packaging technologies
- Proven experience with advanced FA tools and techniques
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently on complex failure cases with minimal supervision
- Excellent technical documentation and report-writing skills
- Effective communication skills for presenting findings to engineering and management teams
- Flexibility, agility and accountability
