Role Description

The Formatter is responsible for designing, formatting, and maintaining retail tags such as hangtags, RFID tags, and price tags using GMC / Quadient Inspire Designer. This role ensures all formatted outputs are accurate, print-ready, brand-compliant, and optimized for various production environments while supporting variable data and automation requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and format hangtags, RFID tags, and price tags using GMC / Quadient Inspire Designer
  • Create, maintain, and enhance templates for various retail tag formats and sizes
  • Manage and format variable data including pricing, barcodes, SKU numbers, and RFID encoding fields
  • Ensure all outputs are print-ready, accurate, and compliant with brand guidelines
  • Collaborate closely with Business Analysts and production teams to gather and interpret requirements
  • Perform thorough quality assurance (QA) checks to verify layout, alignment, and data accuracy
  • Troubleshoot and resolve formatting or data-related issues before production
  • Optimize layouts for different materials, printers, and production constraints
  • Maintain version control, template documentation, and change history
  • Ensure consistent formatting, branding compliance, and high-quality deliverables across all outputs

Job Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, IT, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Strong understanding of layout, typography, and print production processes
  • Familiarity with variable data handling and dynamic content formatting
  • Basic scripting knowledge is an added advantage
  • Hands-on experience with Adobe Illustrator
  • Experience working with data sources such as XML, Excel, or databases
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Willingness to learn and adopt GMC / Quadient Inspire Designer
