We're building a solar company for homeowners in Malaysia. We need a founder-minded operator who can take this venture from zero to traction in months.
This is the first hire in the business. You'll design the playbook, sign the first homeowners, build the referral flywheel, close the financing partnerships that make zero-capex installs possible, and build the team that scales. You won't just be running operations — you'll be creating the market.
What you'll do
- Own the launch: build and execute a go-to-market strategy targeting homeowners across target segments and prove product-market fit fast
- Close the first customers: run the full residential sales cycle; build the referral flywheel that makes existing customers your best salespeople
- Crack the financing: identify and negotiate with consumer lenders or BNPL providers to enable zero-capex installs; design the product terms that make day-one positive cashflow a reality for the homeowner
- Build the installer network: recruit, certify, and manage residential solar installers; own quality, install timeline, and NPS
- Build the team from zero: hire, lead, and coach the first sales, operations, and customer success hires
- Run the numbers: own the P&L, unit economics, and investor reporting; adapt strategy in real time based on what the data says
Who you are
- You have sold something the market did not know it needed — an early-stage product, a new financing model, a category that did not exist — and you have the conversion data to prove it worked
- You do not wait for the market to be ready; you are the reason the market becomes ready
- 8–15 years in consumer sales, consumer finance, or direct-to-consumer operations in Malaysia
- Proven track record building consumer demand from scratch — not riding an existing wave, but creating the conditions for adoption in a market where most people said no before they said yes
- Experience with consumer financing products — hire purchase, BNPL, or mortgage — as a seller, product designer, or commercial owner; you understand why people say no to good financial products and how to remove that barrier
- Has built and managed a frontline field sales team in a market where trust is the product, not just the pitch
- Has started something before, or led a function where you were personally accountable for whether it lived or died
- Based in or immediately relocatable to Malaysia - B2C
