POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Title: General Manager
Reporting to: Chief Operating Officer
No. of direct reports : 4
The General Manager is responsible for leading the operations team to provide smooth, efficient, and effective support for the school. This role involves providing strategic leadership in formulating and executing programmes as part of the overall strategic direction of the school, while managing internal operations to maintain business growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Finance & Purchasing
- Responsible for financial management to ensure the school operates in accordance with Accounting Principles.
- Support the Finance Manager in the smooth running of all purchasing functions.
- Lead annual budget preparation with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and present the final budget to the Board of Directors (BOD).
- Monitor budget vs. actual spend and highlight issues to management to drive efficiency.
- Implement internal controls to protect and safeguard company assets.
People & Culture (Human Resources)
- Responsible for long-term planning of HR requirements, staffing, and costing.
- Translate strategic and tactical business plans by identifying and researching human resources issues.
- Participate in the design of organizational structures and staffing to accomplish school goals.
- Forecast HR budgets regarding headcount, payroll, and related costs.
- Ensure all government and Head Office guidelines are strictly adhered to.
ICT Systems & Processes
- Ensure that all business systems and processes are fit for purpose and running efficiently.
- Develop an environment with systems that enable and encourage operational efficiency.
- Actively identify and implement improvements to internal functions.
Accreditation & Compliance
- Lead the development of operations policies to ensure compliance with all accreditation or statutory requirements.
- Collaborate with Heads of School to oversee the development and administration of accreditation and program review processes.
- Represent the school to various governmental agencies and external accreditation bodies.
Facilities & Risk Management
- Oversee the Facilities and Health & Safety Manager to provide prompt maintenance and M&E services.
- Manage the budget for cyclical maintenance of building fabric and equipment.
- Manage new and future infrastructure projects.
- Implement and review policies for Health and Safety, Security, and Environmental risk.
Outsourced Services
- Oversee and review integrated management services to ensure professional standards are met for:
- Food and Beverage
- Security
- Transport
- Cleaning and Landscaping
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Education: Relevant degree/Master's in Business Management, Finance, ICT, or Computer Science.
- Experience: At least 15 years in management with 5 years in a Senior Management role.
- Industry: Experience in an international school or educational institution is preferred.
- Technical: High proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or Google Workspace is a must.
- Analytical: Exceptional skills in analyzing data and statistics for trends using Excel or Google Sheets.
