This role leads the end-to-end delivery of Large-Scale Solar (LSS) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality, schedule, budgetary, and regulatory requirements, while driving strategic initiatives that enhance organisational performance and long-term growth.

Responsibilities

Technical Coordination and Design Oversight

• Ensure that technical documentation, specifications and engineering deliverables meet project and regulatory standards;
• Lead cross-functional project teams and collaborate with Procurement, including Request for Information (RFI), Request for Quotation (RFQ), Tender Planning, Planning & Control, Project & Technical Excellence (PTEX), and engineering teams to integrate technical solutions aligned with the overall project execution strategy.

Project Planning and Execution Support

• Develop and implement project management frameworks, methodologies, and best practices to support effective project delivery;
• Lead the development and management of project schedules, monitor key milestones, and proactively address challenges to maintain project progress;
• Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks while ensuring robust documentation and alignment with project risk management and governance requirements;
• Monitor and control project scope, schedule, resources, and budget to ensure successful project outcomes and financial performance;
• Provide technical leadership and support during construction and commissioning phases, working closely with site teams to resolve complex technical issues and ensure smooth project execution.

Change Management, Risk Mitigation, and HSE Compliance

• Support the Head, Project Malaysia & Southeast Asia in managing project scope changes and associated risks by ensuring all modifications are properly documented and aligned with governance requirements;
• Ensure project activities across design and execution phases comply with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations;
• Collaborate with the HSE team to integrate safety standards and technical safety requirements into project deliverables.

Managing Technical Coordination Across Project Phases

• Coordinating diverse technical activities across design, construction, and commissioning phases requires strong organizational and communication skills.

Balancing Project Scope Changes and Governance Compliance

• Ensuring that all design changes meet governance requirements while maintaining project schedules and technical integrity.

Supporting Risk Management in High-Impact Projects

• Lead the identification, assessment, and mitigation of technical risks across project phases, ensuring effective risk management strategies are implemented to safeguard project timelines, budgets, and delivery objectives.

Decision-Making Authority

• Authorized to make technical recommendations related to design modifications and engineering issues within project scope. Provides input on significant technical decisions affecting project cost, schedule or scope, under the guidance of the Head, Project Malaysia & Southeast Asia.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical requirements, project schedules, and engineering activities with project objectives and delivery priorities;
• Monitor project progress, manage key deliverables, and support timely project execution;
• Build and maintain strong relationships with consultants, contractors, vendors, and regulatory authorities to support successful project delivery;
• Manage stakeholder interfaces to ensure compliance with technical, regulatory, and contractual requirements while achieving project milestones.

Requirements

• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in Malaysia large-scale solar (LSS) project management;
• Proven track record in utility-scale renewable energy delivery;
• Strong project management skills—budgeting, scheduling, risk management.
• Demonstrated ability to lead strategic business/enterprise initiatives;
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, or related field;
• PMP preferred (advantage);
• Knowledge/experience with BESS is a strong advantage;
• Knowledge of PPA, HSSE, Commercial, EPC, O&M contract management;
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills;
• Familiarity with renewable energy regulations, guidelines, schemes, grid code and local planning, development permitting, licensing etc.
