About the role

The MCMC Internship Programme - RISE@MCMC is designed to attract potential and brightest talents who are up for the challenge in diverse business functions. The programme provides opportunities to gain valuable hands-on exposure and experiences in areas such as communications, research, stakeholder engagement, project coordination, and event management. Interns contribute meaningfully to the department's operations by supporting the delivery of high-quality initiatives and outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Gain hands-on exposure in planning and executing high-level public events, community outreach programs, and official state visits
• Develop skills in corporate communications, including drafting official proposals, speech texts, and executive presentations
• Understand the role of MCMC in public advocacy, specifically in promoting digital literacy and safeguarding consumer awareness
• Build confidence in stakeholder management, protocol handling, and inter-agency collaborations
• Contribute to MCMC's mission of fostering a positive and safe communications environment for the community in the state of Melaka

Qualifications/Courses/Studies Background Candidates should preferably be pursuing studies in the following areas:

1. Mass Communication / Public Relations / Media Studies/ Multimedia
2. Event Management / Tourism
3. Corporate Administration / Public Administration
4. Marketing / Advertising
5. Human Resource Management / Business Administration
6. Other related fields relevant to communications, social sciences, or management.

Additional desirable skills:

1. Strong communication (oral & written) in Bahasa Malaysia and English (Crucial for drafting proposals, speech texts, and public interaction).
2. Event management and logistical planning skills (Ability to handle schedules, venue coordination, and on-the-ground execution).
3. Knowledge of digital media and design (Basic proficiency in tools like Canva or similar software to assist with media toolkits and presentation decks).
4. Outgoing personality and confidence (Comfortable with public speaking, fieldwork, and interacting directly with community members).
5. Team player with strong organizational, time-management, and administrative skills.

Intern must be willing to be based in Melaka.
