Job Description

Mission of the Role

To represent laboratory in the country/region and to in charge the laboratory testing activities in all aspects (e.g., business, internal organization and governance, compliance, administration, and quality). Responsible for executing assignment for business growth, develop best practices and standard tools to improve laboratory efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist General Manager (GM) in ensuring smooth running of the affiliate by offering day-to-day management and exercising leadership.
  • Gain good understanding of internal process and culture of business operations and lead various departments together with GM to achieve targets, strategic imperatives, and growth plans under annual budget.
  • Propose a development and marketing strategy for Palm Oil & Food (non-Palm Oil) Testing - leveraging knowledge of local market conditions with existing capabilities in the network of Cotecna Group specifically for palm oil and other lab or Cotecna affiliates.
  • Involved in monthly PL reporting paying close attention to budget figures specifically Actual vs Budgeted Revenues and EBIT margin.
  • Cooperate with Finance Dept on the quality of the affiliate's balance sheet (e.g. accounts receivable, DSO, bad debts etc.).
  • Promote operational excellence to improve productivity, reduce costs, implement best practices. etc. in line with Cotecna policies with support from HR / Admin of Cotecna MY.
  • Cooperate with HR and support GM on HR agenda (e.g., recruitment, talent identification & performance management, policies, procedures).
  • Ensure full compliance with all Group procedures & rules (reporting and addressing deviations) and Accreditation Body requirements.

Qualifications, Experience and Technical Skills

  • Min. bachelor's degree in chemistry from recognised university and is a member of IKM
  • Min. 10 years of professional experience in relevant analytical laboratory
  • Min. 5 years in a managerial position with financial accountability
  • Strong knowledge of the testing market/business
  • Proven track-record in business development and diversification
