Adecco's client is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its in-house legal team, providing legal support to the broader group across ASEAN. The role will work closely with key stakeholders across the region to provide day-to-day legal support across various business lines, with a strong focus on commercial contracts, client and supplier agreements, and general corporate legal matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently draft, review, negotiate, and advise on client and supplier contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and other legal documentation.
  • Provide timely and practical legal advice to internal stakeholders on day-to-day commercial and corporate legal matters.
  • Work closely with the regional in-house legal team to maintain and rationalise legal infrastructure, including online terms and conditions, policies, and other legal documentation across ASEAN and Australia.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and contractual risks affecting the business.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to provide commercially sound legal advice while ensuring compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Support HR-related legal matters and other general in-house legal matters as required.
  • Provide ad-hoc legal support to other regions and business lines when required.
  • Collaborate with the wider legal team on regional initiatives, projects, and process improvements.
  • Undertake other legal and business-related responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law.
  • At least 5 years of relevant corporate and/or commercial legal experience, gained within a law firm, in-house environment, or a combination of both.
  • Strong experience in contract drafting, review, negotiation, and legal advisory.
  • Prior experience in commercial contracting is essential; exposure to IT contracting would be an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of commercial and corporate legal matters, with the ability to provide practical and commercially minded legal advice.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency in Chinese and/or Bahasa Malaysia would be an added advantage.
  • Strong judgement, professional integrity, and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with regional business teams and legal colleagues.
  • Mature, accountable, responsible, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced in-house environment.
