Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Manager, HSSE Strategy & Planning is responsible for developing, coordinating, and monitoring the organization's HSSE strategic initiatives, performance reporting, governance processes, and transformation programs. The role ensures that HSSE priorities are translated into clear plans, measurable targets, and actionable insights to support leadership decision-making and continuous improvement across all business units.

This role serves as the central coordinator for HSSE planning, performance management, and strategic transformation, ensuring alignment between corporate objectives and operational execution.

Job Responsibilities:

1. HSSE Strategy Development

  • Support the development and periodic review of the corporate HSSE strategy, roadmap, and transformation plans.
  • Translate strategic priorities into annual business plans, initiatives, and measurable KPIs.
  • Track progress against strategic milestones and recommend corrective actions where needed.

2. Planning & Performance Management

  • Coordinate annual HSSE business planning, budgeting, and resource planning.
  • Develop and maintain corporate HSSE scorecards and dashboards.
  • Analyze leading and lagging indicators to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports for senior management and the Board.

3. Governance & Assurance Coordination

  • Monitor closure of strategic actions, audit findings, and key commitments.
  • Ensure governance calendars, reporting templates, and action trackers are maintained.

4. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Prepare high-quality presentations, strategy papers, and executive briefing materials.
  • Facilitate workshops and planning sessions with business units.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to align strategic priorities.

5. Budget & Resource Management

  • Support preparation and monitoring of the HSSE departmental budget.
  • Track expenditure related to strategic initiatives and ensure efficient resource utilization.

Job Dimension (Impact and Accountabilities):

  • Drives HSSE Strategy and Planning – Leads the development and coordination of the corporate HSSE strategy, annual business plan, transformation roadmap, and key performance indicators.
  • Enables Leadership Decision-Making – Provides timely performance analysis, dashboards, and Board-level reports to highlight trends, emerging risks, and strategic priorities.
  • Coordinates Governance and Accountability – Oversees governance meetings, tracks strategic actions, audit findings, and leadership commitments, and escalates overdue or critical issues.
  • Leads Strategic Improvement Initiatives – Manages cross-functional transformation programs and special projects to strengthen HSSE systems, capabilities, and overall performance.
  • Aligns Stakeholders and Resources – Works across business units and support functions to ensure strategic priorities, budgets, and resources are aligned to deliver HSSE objectives.

Education/ Professional Qualification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or related field.
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration or Sustainability is an added advantage.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., SHO, NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO Lead Auditor) are advantageous.

Professional Experience:

  • 5–8 years of experience in HSSE, strategy, planning, consulting, or performance management.
  • Experience in construction, property development, manufacturing, oil & gas, or other high-risk industries.
  • Proven track record in developing strategies, dashboards, and executive reporting.
