Job Description

Purpose of the Position

The purpose of this position is to develop, manage and deliver trade and marketing partnerships in Singapore. To raise awareness of Western Australia's profile as the preferred tourism destination to the Malaysian consumer and deliver visitors and yield to Western Australia.

Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with the Singapore Country Manager to develop, manage, and evaluate marketing objectives and strategies for Tourism promotion in Malaysia, ensuring alignment with the organisation's strategic direction.
  2. Create and implement marketing programs aimed at driving visitation and revenue from international markets.
  3. Oversee the Public Relations contract to ensure a focused and complimentary PR strategy that raises consumer awareness and interest in Western Australia as a travel destination.
  4. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Tourism Australia, other State Tourism Organizations (STO's), host and attend trade events (in region and in Australia), provide agent and wholesale partners with training and education, also support the development of WA tourism products in the specified target markets.
  5. Measure the effectiveness of marketing programs and activities against the established annual marketing plan and key performance indicators, also provide regular reports on progress and outcomes.
  6. Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with senior management of airlines, Indonesian tourism operators, government agencies to maximise tourism opportunities.
  7. Manage budgetary and contracting functions, ensuring effective and efficient service delivery and value for return on investment.
  8. Collaborate with team members throughout the Asia region, as well as the wider Global Marketing team and Perth based staff members.
  9. Adheres to Occupational Safety and Health, Equal Opportunity and other legislative requirements in accordance with the parameters of the position.

  11. Perform any other duties as assigned or necessary to support the objectives of CITS.

Selection Criteria

This section outlines the necessary minimum requirements, in relation to the knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications required to perform the duties of the position. Applicants should demonstrate their capacity to meet the following criteria which should be read in conjunction with the specific responsibilities of this role.

Essential

  1. Develop and implement consumer and trade marketing campaigns and conversion programs (including digital marketing).
  2. Knowledge and experience in the travel and tourism industry in Malaysia.
  3. Demonstrated proactive approach to establishing positive relationships and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders with a range of cultures.
  4. Excellent communication and presentation skills including written and verbal English and Bahasa.
  5. Preparedness to undertake frequent domestic and international travel (up to 30%).

Desirable

  1. Knowledge of (Western) Australian tourism products and experiences.
  2. Proficient in Bahasa is mandatory; other languages desirable.
  3. Sound understanding of current trends and issues in the travel and tourism industry.
